Question about 1998 Ford Mustang

1 Answer

Coil pack My coil pack is mounted on the plenum above the driver side valve cover. Is the coil pack posted in the picture the same firing order? 1,2,3,4,6,5? From top of pack to bottom? I am trying to clean up a P0301 misfire code and double checking to see if I accidently installed new plug wires on incorrectly. But this code was present before the wire/plug change. I also added fuel injectorr cleaner during plug/wire replacement- P0301 code seems to take longer for the system monitor to find. So if the posted firing order is the same as my driverside mounted 3.8l coil pack I guess I should start leaning towards cylinder #1 injector failure?

Firing order & Wire Routing for 2009 Dodge Nitro 3.7 w/ three coil setup

The firing order for v6 is 165432
The driver side cylinder bank is numbered from front to rear-- 2-4-6
The passenger side cylinder bank is numbered from front to rear 1-3-5
The picture is for your coil pack, hopefully. So you can see how the coil towers are numbered.
My database for 09 showed coil on plug ignition. Is this the original engine?
I did see info for 07--3.7L that did appear to show a coil pack in tune-up manual.

Change valve cover gasket

Unplug the computer and sensors on the plenum and throttle body. Remove the computer. remove the computer bracket. remove the bolts on the side of the plenum. the ones by the fire wall can be a pain. Pull out the plenum. remove the plugs from the coils. remove the coils. remove the bolts for the valve cover and replace the seal. install in reverse order.
