Battery light flashing

Common problem, usually associated with bad diode in the alternator. If battery is good, your alternator needs diodes even though it still works.

Someone on here told me the 1998 chevy venture has no sensor for miles per gallon. Worked fine until I solider the 430 resistor to keep display on. Any idea where sensor is or what else I can do? Thanks

Its not a senser, its a burned out diode on the back of you're instrument panel, you have to take the instrument cluster out and there will be a cover over the circuit board on the back of your gauge panel the diode should be right behind the place on the front of the gauge cluster, they cost about 25 cents but you will have to sodder a new one in place of the old one,and reassemble back into the vehicle.

How to replace fuel gauge on 1984 Grand Marquis

Are you sure its not the fuel sending unit and not the fuel gauge itself.Because the sending unit controls the fuel gauge level and if the float gets stuck then the fuel gauge will not work.

My battery light came on and my battery dies like i aint getting a charge and when i charge the battery it starts everytime alternater is good what could it be

How do you know alternator is good?
Put in a cheap volt gauge.
Should read 12.5 normal.
Down to 10 starting.
Back to 12.5 at idle.
Up to 13.5 when engine revved up.

But battery low on water will not hold charge.
Could also have internal short.
Volt gauge will show.

Could also have something staying on, like engine or trunk compartment light?
Pull one battery terminal, and see if test light lights up across gap. If it does, even weak, you have a constant drain. Could be alternator. When diodes go bad, alternator can drain battery. Disconnect things until light goes out.

1995 Honda Civic fuel gauge always shows full. I removed instrument cluster and moved gauge down by hand. The needle moves back to full when key is switched to acc position. I found no loose wires or bad...

Well, theres a sending unit/float in the tank that sends a signal thru wires to your instrument cluster's fuel gauge. You should have an auto electric repairperson determine where your problem lies. It's not often the needle's just 'stuck' to where you could dislodge it. More often, it's pegged overfull or underempty-signaling a shorted component upstream of the gauge.

Similar problem and found the solution:
In the back of the gauge, where the 2 coils are located, there are very tiny copper wires which connect all the resistors/diodes. they each travel from within the coil and are soldered to 3 out of the 4 mounting pins. if any of these wires are shorting out or disconnected, the gauge will malfunction.

- take the gauge and flip upside down
- temp gauge has 1 resistor (blue) and 1 diode (copper)
- fuel gauge has 2 resistors, no diodes
- 1 wire should be attached to bottom mounting pin (letter E for EMPTY)
- 1 wire should be attached to pin holding both resistors (half tank)
- 1 wire should be attached to the stand-alone ground pin (no mounting bracket)

Hope that helps!

Fuel gage turn signals and heater (fan) won't work.

Reversing polarity at the battery is a very bad thing and can cause a host of unpredictable problems. You are lucky that you didn't fry the alternator diodes (the battery is charging, I hope). Each of the problems you describe will have to be treated separately. 1. try replacing the turn signal fuse and flasher unit. 2. fuel gauge has a delicate resistor... probably the easiest fix is to replace the instrument cluster. 3. Heater blower fan has a resistor pack for different fan speeds, this may be replaceable, otherwise a new blower assembly may be the best way to fix it. Hope this helps

there is no fuse for only the fuel gauge light. the fuse for the panel illumination is all on the same fuse so if only one part of the panel is out then its will be a bulb or diode behind the gauge that has failed.
