Question about 2004 Mazda MPV

1 Answer

My 2004 MPV keeps giving me error of misfire at 1 and 4. I've replaced the coil packs in the past and the plugs and the problem just seems to come back. It also was worse in the moist weather but is bad all the time now. Is it possible that I have a short in the wiring harness? If so should I tear it apart to see if I can find it? Thanks

An o2 sensor can cause these codes to appear falsely pull o2 oxygen sensors and clean them with wire brush and carb cleaner

MY 04 KIA SEDONA KEEPS SAYING MISFIRE IN CYLINDER 1 AFTER I'VE CHANGED THE WIRES, PLUGS, COIL PACKS 2X, ALL 4 LIFTERS AND THE FUEL INJECTOR. WHY? AND WHAT AM I DOING WRONG? THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.

Fire it up at night and look for arcing in the dark. It may also be nothing more than number 1 plug wire misrouted in a way that inductively picks up energy from one of the other coil packs or cylinders. It should cross other plug wires only once.

I have a 2005 sienna with 100,00 miles i got hit with multi misfire codes. I changed spark plugs but now i have error P0305 cylinder #5 misfire. i swapped out coils to see if the misfires moves but no...

With a misfire...its usually plugs, plug wires, and coil packs.
Sounds like you've done this...so, make sure plug wire is seated real well at each end.
(its usually the connection points that get corroded or dirty...or a crack in the wire insulation allows the spark to shoot to the nearest ground.)

I have seen the plugs get fouled out by water entering the cylinder...rare, but happens.

Hope this helps...

I have a mazda mpv 2000 minivan.problem code p0301 misfire detected cylinder#1

I'd check #1 spark plug.
Usually a misfire code "fix" is a spark plug, spark plug wire, or a coil pack / distributor.
Keeping it simple...I'd go with the spark plug first and then look at the condition of the wires.

Hope this helps...

What's your problem? my 2004 mercury monterey has eight codes ,po301,poo53,po106,po316,po300,po304,po305,and po306

PO 300 is multiple misfires detected
PO 301, 304, 305, 306 are misfires in cylinders 1,4,5,&6
PO 053 is HO2S Bank 1 Sensor 1 Heater Resistance
PO 106 is MAP/BARO CKT Range / Perf
PO 316 is Misfire detected 1st 1000 Revs.

On a misfire, I usually push towards the spark plugs, plug wires, and coil packs / distributor coil.
You have PO 106 and PO 053 that need to be inquired about at nearest AutoZone.
They can give you an idea as to what is the problem on these.

Did a MAP sensor **** out and cause all the misfires ?
Did a misfire cause the MAP sensor error?
You see what I'm saying ?...Something caused all the misfires...thinking MAP...but not that familiar with the function of the MAP.

Hope this helps...

I have error codes P0051 Bank 2 Sensor 1 , P0037 Bank 1 Sensor 2 and P0306 Cylinder 6 Misfire. Where are these two O2 sensors located?

Umm, "First thing to do though is to swap the wires on your coil packs" is a risky idea. This would most-likely cause a backfire and possibly cause severe damage. Swapping coils between cylinders and keeping wires matched to corresponding cylinders would give the intended result.

2004 Audi A4 misfire

it is always a good idea to stay with o.e.m parts and yes there is updated parts in the newer coils. and yes the M.A.F will also cause misfire faults but will not make check engine light flash or make car shake and shudder. also check you wire harness going to your coils make sure your ground wires are not cracked. That could be the main culprate. good luck hope this helps

2004 Lincoln navigator misfire on cylinder 8 error code p318

Replace the coil pack once more. I went through 2 new ones on my f150 on one cylinder. One worked, the other didn't (both new off the shelf). Condensation build up in the boot caused mine to misfire. Anytime you replace a coil pack, squirt a little silicone grease inside. This will prevent condensation from hitting your plug. Fords are notorius for this problem, especially if you live in a humid area. Also, make sure and clear the codes after you make the repair.

#5 cylinder misfire

I have a corolla and had #4 cylinder misfire also diagnosed at autozone. After changing the spark plugs, problem persisted, along with the same error code, so they recommended changing the spark plug wires, and that is what fixed it. I would have changed the rotor cap too, but was low on dough. Glad that was not the problem.
