I've went to a few different websites and the parts vary in sizes, like 26" long to 30" long.

Before taking the wheel off loosen and remove the center nut holding the drive shaft into the hub. Take off the wheel, unbolt the caliper, hang the caliper from a piece of wire, and take out the bolts holding the bearing hub to strut assembly. Now pull out the top of the bearing holder and push it down hard while bending the outer joint and pulling the axle up and out of the bearing holder. If this a rare car where you can not get enough clearance to remove the end of the axle, then you may also have to take the nut off of the tie rod end and pop it out of the steering arm. You can usually get the axle out with out unbolting the lower ball joint or popping the tie rod out of the steering arm.
