If the rotors are not all in one with the hub, it is simple. Remove the wheel, remove the brake caliper, use a soft mallet to loosen the rotor and remove, then replace the rotor, pads and spray with cleaner to remove finger prints and grease and then replace the wheel.

Check the backside Of your tire. I drive an 89' f-150, and had a very similar noise. Turns out I had a rock jammed in my rotor and it was hitting the caliper every time the wheel made a rotation. I ultimately had to use a crowbar to pry the rock out. The other thing you could, and should, check is your brakes on that side. Check break pads, rotor condition, and confirm that your caliper is not worn out. I would also suggest checking your lockout hub. It could very well be that your lockout is worn out, and catching just a little bit, even though it is supposedly unlocked and disengaged. While your down there, check the joints of your front axle to check for any slop or play in them. Replace as needed.
This will probably be the front C-V shaft or hub bearing. When in 2 wheel drive the C-V shaft will not have a load on it. But as soon as you change to 4 wheel drive the part has stress on it. It can also behave this way when the Hub bearing is asked to bear Torque from the turning C-V shaft. Instead of having slack from the weight of the truck pressing the Hub bearings straight up, the bearings are rotating under Torque and any play is magnified.
The rubbing can be the rotor, running on bad bearings and hitting the brake pads. As the rotor is bolted onto the Hub bearing, the rotor will tilt in harmony to the bad bearings in the Hub. This creates a misalignment as one side of the rotor is tilted creating a high side.
Unfortunately you do not always get "play" in the bearing and they are unserviceable. Replace the entire unit. Here are the instructions for replacement. They bolt into place making it pretty easy to do. Soak the CV shaft which pertrudes from the hub where the nut goes with a good rust penetrant to ease in removal.
Removal & Installation
Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
Remove or disconnect the following:
Front wheelWheel Speed Sensor (WSS) electrical connectorBrake caliper and bracketRotorDriveshaft nut
Install a front hub removal tool to the wheel bearing/hub assembly with three wheel nuts. Use the tool to push the driveshaft out of the wheel bearing/hub.
Remove the wheel bearing/hub assembly and discard the bolts.
Install or connect the following:
Wheel bearing/hub assembly using new bolts and torque them to 96 ft. lbs. (130 Nm)New drive shaft nut and torque it to 118 ft. lbs. (160 Nm)Brake rotorFront caliper with the bracketWSS electrical connectorFront wheel
Once the truck is on jack stands remove the brake caliper and rotor. The hub assembly should slide right off at that point. The wheel bearings are actually sealed in the hub assembly which is kind of nice because then you don't have to deal with grease packing the bearings. Just slide the new hub assembly back on. Put the rotor and caliper back together and you should be good to go. Hope this helps you.
Did you check for spark at a plug wire or at the coil wire? Check at the coil wire,if there is spark there,the ign rotor is bad,very common to have the hot spark "drill" a hole thru the rotor to the dist shaft. Also check for play at the rotor shaft. Distruibtor bushings tend to go bad,making the trigger wheel hit the pickup coil,killing the spark.
Sounds like a wheel bearing. Lift the vehicle and spin the wheel and look for anything touching the rotor like the backing plate. grab the tire with both hands at the 12 and 6 o'clock positions and shake the wheel to check for play. If there is up an down play check to see if the whole knuckle is moving or just the wheel and rotor. If its the wheel and rotor replace the wheel bearing.
I am not an expert but yes i beleive you have to remove hub nut to get rotor off,also will need flat head screwdriver to unscrew internal nut before bearing.I also changed bearings while i had it all loose.
Check wheel bering for play if there is no play , it doesn't mean that bearing is NOT bad its can still be dry and would be making that grinding sound you described Also check axle and see if boot is broken.
