Question about 1994 Saab 900

1 Answer

1995 SAAB 900 won't start SAAB runs fine, then once in a while I get out, go into a store or something, come back and it just won't start. Until yesteday, I would just wait and it would start eventually, sometimes ten minutes to ten hours later. It just clicks very quietly. I thought it was a vapor lock, so I would open the gas tank to let air in and out and it started, but it was still aboput ten minutes or more, so maybe I wasn't doing anything. Until yesterday. It won't start at all now. Maybe it was just coincidence as the switch was cooled down or something before, but now it does not turn over, grind, anything, it's like a dead battery.I do hear a barely audible click. I have one battery cable that is all frayed at the connecter, but two men have told me it can't be that. When they try to jump start it, it doesn't affect it. I just went out a put an ice pack on the ignition to cool it. Then I tried every combination of unlocking and locking I can think of. A friend of mine (an old farmer who is 84) crawled under it in the 99 degree weather and said "it has spark" and it might be the bendix. Another friend says he would check the igntion for me and "hotwire it" but we cannot figure out how to open the console between the seats where the key is. Also, my passenger door is comming apart and I thought maybe that affected the lock, but it goes up and down normally with the key in the driver's door-that is it goes up and down like it is supposed to with the rest of the locks. I cannot afford tows or repairs, but I have to have dependable car. Any ideas?? Carole52577

    hi carole

wear the key goes in the ign lock under that thers a unit like a switch so when you turn the key the witch turns on the ign this part gives problems like not starting even when the engine turns over but wont start or like a dead battery thers nothing ther... the part to buy second hand is not exsensive maybe a little bit of a pain to fit as on the 900 its in the center consal

dont try and hot wire this car as you can cause major damige

How do the obd 2 clear the check engine light on a 1995 Saab

  • A 1995 Saab 900 still used the ISO 9141 not OBD II so an OBD II will serve no purpose to your vehicle. Saab 900 did not use OBD II until 1996. If you want the check engine light to go away on this vehicle you have to fix the problem and then the battery disconnected for a couple minutes and the light should stay away if all is OK.

Reverse not working in my 1995 saab a week after the clutch was

Standard tranny's are pretty simple. Sounds like some of the linkage came unconnected. Take it back to whoever replaced the clutch and have them repair the problem. They apparently didn't put it back together right. You have to disconnect the linkage to pull the transmission to replace the clutch.

My 2003 Saab 9-3 drives sluggish.

Take your car to the dealer, local garage, auto parts store and get them to pull the code which should tell you exactly what the problem is. I would also check the transmission again and make sure it isn't leaking and is at the correct level. If the problem was low transmission fluid you still need to have the code "cleared" before the car will return to normal. Hope this helps.

I need an engine diagram for a 1995 saab 900 se V6

A SAAB dealer should be able to print one out for you. BTW that engine is practically identical to the V6 used in a caddy Catera, and Saturn Ion. Those diagrams would be the same, so you might want to search that also.
