Emergency brake problem

I bought my 2000 silverado 1500 4x4 brand new and the emergency brake pads were junk within a year! I brought it to the dealer and they told me there was a recall on that, then they checked my vin# and told me i had no recall on MY truck and several other problems that were recalls but dealer told me NOT ON MY VIN# ! How is that possible?

A recall is usually pulled up and goes by vin# if iit was built at different plant or later date than recalls fall into it doesnt have same issue as the rest of the year.usually those ebrake shoes dont burn up without e brake being slighty on and dragging. You wont even notice it and sometimes it just slight enough light in dash doesnt come on,

There are vin breaks but some times some are outside the vin break Call gm customer service they can assist you in getting dealer to warranty policy them for you.But remember they are also looking at age and miles on vehicle.

Do you have a question? or are you making a statement? Did you drive for quite a bit while leaving the e-brake engaged? if so you will probably need a new set of pads and possibly new rotors if they got too overheated.

My rear brakes are getting way too hot on my 2000 Chevy Silverado. What could be causing this? I just replaced the brake pads and rotors. The back brakes seem to be seizing up and I can't figure out why.

This year of truck did have issues with rear disc brakes. Quality of pads is extremely critical. Go with the AC Delco pads and rotors to eleviate some of the issue. Make sure that the slide pins are liberally lubricated and move freely or drag will cause excessive heat to occur. Let me know if you need anything else.

Dow do i put new front break on my 2000 Dodge Caravan

remove wheel .. the brake caliper is held on with two small metric bolts (about 2 inch long) that go thru rubber boots ... once the caliper is off then the rotor just pulls off if you need to turn or replace that ...use a caliper compression tool to retract the piston (or c clamp)... clean everythihg and replace pads with new ones .. install anti squeel shims and reassemble ..its good idea to have someone that is skilled to help you or at least have your work inspected ..dont skimp on pads .. i get the best name brand available even though that costs more .l there is a lot of junk pads out there ... dont depend on your jack .. always use jack stands and wheel stops for safety ..... new brake pads are available at all auto parts stores (you need to know your make, model and year ).. dealers will usually charge much more ...

or you could just take it to a brake repair shop .. check arround for the best reputation not lowest price ...

2000 olds bravada rear brakes are draging. changed brake hose's to calupers and the center hose as well. with new brake and rotors still draging not sure what to do next.

I also have this problem on my 2000 Bravada - replaced all rotors and back calipers, brand new brake pads, new system and my rear caliper STILL chewed up a brand new brake pad in one week down to the metal. Checking for an emergency brake issue at this point - if anyone has any suggestions about how to unhook the E Brake, please share!

My emergency brake is out again on my 2000 Chevy Silverado

I had a 2002 silverado and there was a recall for the same thing, plus a few others. Take it to a chevy dealer, they will check the vin# to see if your truck is among the recalls,If it is they will fix it, no charge. Any recall on any vehicle, the dealer has to fix it for nothing.

Rear brake pads junk rotors junk front pads full, uneven, low miles

emergency brake cable may not have been adjusted properly or emergency brake may have been partially engaged without brake light indicating such. Check brake release handle, if it makes no noise as to indicate realease, then it would have to be the e brake adjustment or frozen brake cylanders that when brakes are applied the pressure presses the shoes against the drums but does not release pressure, could be bad cylanders but not likely on both sides at the same time.
