1995 Explorer conversion van won't accelerate

1995 Explorer conversion van. Van just started to have a problem accelerating. Going from 0-20, I have to rev the engine quite high for it to go. Once it gets to about 20 mph, I can let off the gas and it seems to grab another gear and then can accelerate more normally.

Sounds like you have a transmission problem, could be the valve body, or a bad band. I would check the fluid first it could be low. Just make sure the engine is warm, and the van is in park, then check the fluid.

You might have a shorted injector driver. Disconnect the injector harness from that cylinder and connect a noid light or a high impedance test light and start the engine. If the light stays on instead of blinking, then the injector driver in the PCM is shorted and replacement will be required.

When putting van in gear the engine runs rough

how about putting the van in drive with one foot down hard on the brake and rev the engine, does it smooth out now? if it smooths out, i would pull the air cleaner tube to the throttle body and spray the throttle body with carb cleaner, be careful if using the red tube, I have had it blow off before into the intake, not good, open the accelerator and spray it out really good, it will to start until all the cleaner clears out.
