Question about 1993 Chevrolet C/K 3500
1993 3500 chevy silverado dually. When I start to drive everything is ok! Going through the gears 1...2...3...O/D ... every thing is smooth no problems, after about 20 minutes of driving the gearbox will not go in to overdrive and there's a real hard shift between 1st and 2nd. When I stop the truck for about 1/2 an hour, everything is o.k again until about 15 - 20 minutes later it starts again. I'm assuming that something is happening when it reaches maximum operating temperature or when the vehicle is put under some load for a while. Have had a technician look at it, he has changed the valve body twice but cannot sourve the problem??
Likely you have a shaft seal or clutch piston seal thats leaking only when the unit gets hot and clearances change. It will require teardown and careful inspection to determine exactly where, then replace worn parts and finish rebuild.
