Question about 1997 Volkswagen Jetta

1 Answer

Had water pump changed on 2003 Highline Jetta 1 month ago. Oil cooler had to be replaced 1 month later. Oil landed up in water - oil totally empty. Temperature gauze said "Check coolant". Muddy consistency in water container. Is the oil problem related to the water pump problem a month ago?

Sorry to be the messenger of bad news but from the symptoms described it sounds like the head gasket ,the oil feed to the camshaft to be more precise ,its forcing oil into the water circuit but the water is not getting into the oil because its at a lower pressure .

Oil light flashing, last oil change 7 wks ago

I belive they didn't reset the oil light timer. I belive the sequence is 1. key on (not acc with engine off)
2. step on the brake pedal 5 times within 10 seconds. 3. key off. 4. start car. 5. check if the light went out. you may have to try it a few times to get it.

Most probably you have bad head gasket. That is the main reason for oil getting to coolant.
Check you exhaust for color. White color can be also idiction that coolant going to combustion chamber.
Hope that was helpfull
Good Luck

I had the same problem with my T5 130. My mechanic replaced the head gasket to no avail, then we checked the oil filter, that was ok.then we went on to a web forum and found out that the AXD engine suffers from water pump failure. We took it off and it was corroded, the seal had failed and was pumping water into the block. My advice,CHECK WATER PUMP FIRST! Good luck Marc,Somerset.

Changed oil in 05 vw jetta and exhaust light came on.

Hi Dohn. The save levelto fill you oil is 3/4 from empty on your dip stick. This gives the engine space to breath. What has most likely happened here is, the engine has had too much oil and is trying to find a way out which will end up on your drive or through yor exhaust.
