OK, this seems to be a fuel distribution issue. I recommend replacing the fuel pump and filter, if not done so already. secondly, i suggest scheduling a complete tune up asap. change the wires, plugs and, have the air filter changed as well.

I would also recommend using a fuel additive. this will scrub the intake and fuel lines as well. Carbon deposits will rob your engine of power if the build up is great. it will clog the egr valve and, prevent good air flow through the intake. An additive like Sea Foam, will reduce this build up and, improve the pick up and power as well.

Ok, the last check i would preform will be on the ignition system. check the ignition coil or , distributor for its operational value. make sure its in good condition. I didn't see in your post that you were experiencing any missing so, i think you are good here. A quick inspection of the ignition system wouldnt hurt.

One more thing here. i would check that PCV valve and, hose also. its located Under hood, center, upper engine area, top of engine,

mounted in passenger side valve cover. This valve can cause hesitation if its clogged or damaged.

Hi there,

This problem is most commonly caused by a weak fuel pump. It will need to be checked with a fuel pressure guage. If you can obtain a fuel pressure guage you will need to observe the fuel pressure while accellerating to see if it drops out.

Good Luck!!
Thanks

Have 97 gmc suburban. Has a jerk to it when I'm crusein on highway and from time to time seems as if im hitting a bunch of little bumps an it boggs down. I let off gas it stops what could this b?

Could be the fuel filter. Watch the speed it happens. IE.. Ok at 50 MPH, hit 60 MPH it starts jerking. Clogged filers will give the pressure need, just not the volume of fuel need at higher speeds.

Why does my 94 Jetta take long to start taking off when I hit the gas?

Could be a faulty throttle position sensor or low fuel pressure.

GOT A 94 CHEVY CAPRICE. START THE CAR IT IDLES ROUGH BUT TAKES OFF. WHEN I HIT THE HIGHWAY, IF I GO SLOW AND LET THE CAR PICK UP SPEED SLOWLY. SHE RUNS MUCH BETTER, BUT WHEN IM DOING 55 AND NEED EXTRA...

A bad thing about this car their distributor is in front of the engine catching all the road slop. You may need to replace this. Since you replaced the fuel filter have you replaced the air also? Did you try a bottle of fuel injector cleaner? Good luck and I hope my suggestions helps

1996 thunderbird 4 6 power brakes and power steering fades in and out while driving"

This may be your problem.

FORD: 1994-96 THUNDERBIRD LINCOLN-MERCURY: 1994-96 COUGAR ISSUE: Steering efforts at low speeds may intermittently increase to the heavier for highway setting on some vehicles. This is due to electrical "noise" from the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) being picked up by the Electronic Variable Orifice (EVO) module. The EVO module then interprets this as an increase in vehicle speed and reduces the steering assistance to the heavier for highway level.
ACTION: Replace the EVO module with a new module that has improved filtering for electrical noise. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.
SERVICE PROCEDURE Replace EVO module (F6SZ-3F712-BB). Locations are as follows:
  • On 1994-95 vehicles, the EVO module is located under the package tray in the trunk.
  • On 1996 vehicles, the EVO is located under the heater blower case on the passenger side.
Refer to Section 11-02 of the appropriate year Thunderbird/Cougar Service Manual for additional diagnosis and repair information.

PART NUMBER PART NAME F6SZ-3F712-BB Electronic Variable Orifice Module OTHER APPLICABLE ARTICLES: NONE
WARRANTY STATUS: Eligible Under The Provisions Of Bumper To Bumper Warranty Coverage
OPERATION DESCRIPTION TIME 960402A Replace Electronic Variable Orifice (EVO) Module - 1994-95 Thunderbird/Cougar 0.5 Hr. 960402B Replace Electronic Variable Orifice (EVO) Module - 1996 Thunderbird/Cougar 0.3 Hr.

My truck loses power

In most cases it is the fuel filter. I don't know when it was changed before, but it should be changed at least every 8-10 k miles. Make sure you change the air filter too.
