Question about 1987 Cadillac Cimarron
I am definately a novice in the mehanic world, however this sounds exactly like a problem I had with a Pontiac (yes I know it's a different car...but for the most part, the electrical is the same). I threw all sorts of parts at it before the mechanic figured out that it was a bad ground that ran through the drivers side kick panel in the door entry. Once we cleaned the wires and ground them again, the car ran clean. I just thought I'd throw it out there in case it helped.

Did you install the fuel filter in line with the fuel flow? They usually have arrows on them saying "in" and "out"...if the problem started just after you changed the filter, might want to check it out.
