Could anyone confirm for me the tranny behind a '94 3.4L camaro?

I've been told it is a 700R4 and wanted to confirm this with someone in the community. Thanks!

Thanks Nick-appreciate it! Guess we'll get the car up in the air to see. What do you think one should pay at a trans shop to have this trans replaced with the same stock 4l60-e trans?

I'm not sure if its the same or not but for a 94 camaro i'm coming up with 4l60-e for the auto trans, i can confirm this by running a vehicle build if you send me the vin number, i work at a gm dealer so i can look things like this up

everything i've come up with is showing me 4l60-e, on the stamp on the side of the transmission the 4th digit out of 9 will be an M if it is in fact a 4l60-e, being that the car is 15 years old GM starts to close down their database on older vehicles and it limits what they put on their site as far as information goes to make room for the new vehicles.

700r4 is the typical trans in v6 camaro. There is a plate on the side of trans housing that will tell you exectly what it is.

The throttle valve cable controls the transmission pressure. Adjusting this cable is the most important step when installing a 700R4 or 200R4 transmission.

The shap and the number of pan bolts usually tell you what you have for a trany.Your local auto parts store should have a chart with all the various pan and bolt patterns to help identify your transmition.

I just bought an 86 iroc camaro the distriburtor cap was just thrown on it how can i take it out and reposition it so that my engine will start..? it has a 700r4 tranny in it an that won't shift right...

im assuming we are talking about the distributor/before pulling out remove cap and with # 1 spark plug out turn engine until top dead center in #1 cylinder check rotor on distributor if it lines up with #1 wire then just need to make fine timing--if not unbolt the retainer under distributor and lift up distributor and rotate rotor so it lines up w/#1 wire replace dist and retainer dont completely tight try start and w/timing light adjust to proper time----transmission has a selector w/adjustable cable connection on drivers side

700 r4 shift hard

The u-joints could cause the banging when you put it in gear. You might want to check the kick down cable. If it's out of ajustment it can cause the hard shift. The transmission thinks the motor is going faster then what it is and will shift harder. Put the car up on jack stand in the rear and put the tranny in neutral.turn the drive shaft back and forth with your hand and see if you hear the clunk or bang you heard when you put it in gear. if not then I would go with the kick down cable being to tightor to short on ajustment. However you want to look at it.

Bought the wrong 700r4?!

I believe the bolt pattern is the same that transmission should bolt up to your v-8 assuming it's a small block, the transmission should work fine, you may need to modify the shifter but everything else should be compatible, if your v-8 is carberated make sure you have the correct throttle link set up because correct tv cable adjustment is critical, the v-6 transmission may have a lighter stack up in the 3-4 drum so dont be to hard on it while in 3rd or 4th.

good luck
