Won't idle when cold

When 1st starts jeep up it won't idle. But if you hold foot down on accelerator until it warms up then its ok. It's a 2000 Wrangler, 4.0 litre. I have a 93 festiva and had same problem and it was IAC. Do jeeps have an IAC also or something simular that can cause this.

I have had the same problem not only with jeep but with my Dodge Ram as well, it turned our to be the throttle position sensor, but if your check engine light was on,it probably stored a code, I would have that code checked out if you can. You can also first check for vacuum leaks replace any hose that is even slightly questionable. Remove the air intake tube and be sure the injection is clean around the throttle plate. I would recommend getting a service manual for sure. I got mine from www.promanuals.net the best and cheapest around for factory equivalent service manuals. They can answer a alot questions as well.

1996 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 L has trouble accelerating

often times the engine needs to warm up to normal operating temperature. this varies from makes and models. if you cant wait that long, having it idle for approximately 5 - 10 minutes should at least lessen the acceleration problem, but the longer you wait the better it will be on the engine.

Engine revs but no acceleration

Clutch plate and pressure plate seem to be too weak to pull the car. Or one of the CV joints is detached from the gear box. To test the clutch plate, park the car on flat surface. Pull the hand brake up, start the car, depress the foot brake pedal, depress the clutch pedal, put the car in 1st gear, press the gas pedal and leave the clutch pedal at once, while keeping the brake pedal depressed.
Follow one of the two following statements:
1. Engine does not shut down and remain start. (Clutch plate, pressure plate and clutch bearing defective - Replace all as a set)
2. Engine shuts down. (Clutch system is OK and does not require any repair).

Because you disconnected the battery you lost the long trim value, you will now have to relearn the idle, start the vehicle idle it to 1500 RPM,hold for a minute, idle should stabilize, turn on A/C let it idle, for a minute, now your done,

Try to start run for a second if you press the gas it will stay on until you get off the gas

Sounds like a leaky injector, bad idle ,hard to start when warm, bad gas mileage. Or the temp sensor both of them that won't let it run rjght when its cold

When i start my jeep in the cold mornings it starts up but bogs right down and stalls then i have to accelerate for the second start up for a few minutes to warm it up a little and then it bogs and stays...

Your only problem friend, is the temperature sending unit/sensor. Upon cold start, this sensor wil tell the computer to go into cold start mode putting a bit more fuel in and raising the idle a bit to keep it running when cold without using the throttle. Replace that sensor and your good to go. Makes sense, right?

I had bad oxygen sensors do this.
Check it out with a scanner before replacing it.
