Installed new headlight switch in my 95 cherokee

Headlights come on but no other lights come on. If i pull it back slowly before it catches in the parking light section the lights come on but as soon as it catches they go out.

If you install it with the negative attached it will blow out a fuse. I didnt check the fuses right away because i had looked at them all before i replaced the switch. find the fuse and replace it.

If you are sure the wire plug is firmly attached to the switch then the switch is defective. Return it and get a new one.

On my 1996 Mustang GT, when I turn on my headlights, my dashboard lights go out. Is that a fuse, ground or some other issue?

The proposed problem sounds like the problem I had with a 95 Mustang. Check the tail lights as well as the dash lights. If both are out when the headlights are switched on, the problem more than likely is with the headlight switch. The 95 had a poorly designed wire and plug configuration going into the switch. The wiring was too small and the plug would literally melt. The headlight switch and plug has to be replaced in this case. The problem was supposed to have been cleared with the 96 Mustang; however, a persistent problem may suggest checking the plug/switch combination.

Suggest changing the clip fastener, or failing that, find some adaptation.

96 jeep cherokee se replaced head light pull switch

Have you checked the breaker and the hi/low beam switch for power? Did you look at the connectors in the switch plug? I have a really poor diagram that seems to be non-specific on this. Also, if you have a headlight delay module check that also.

Headlights work but parking lights dont..

if u have change and check the bulbs and fuses. great. fuses do go lose in a cherokee . move each fuse by hand while the lights are on or the switch is in the on position. if you find the problem this way. just take the fuse out and slightly twist the prong of the fuse and replace it back and ditto. make your daughter say " u d grate dad"

96 Jeep Cherokee Headlight

Honestly, I think you have a bad part. It's not uncommon, especially with electrical items. Speak with your parts person and they should warrenty the part. Another switch should cure things.
Good luck.

Jeep headlight problem

Check the relay for you headlights. It seems like you are only getting juice when in hi-beams are on and not lo-beams. Or maybe the lo-beam portion of you headlights are burned out. There are 2 filiments inside the light, one for hi and one for low.
