Question about 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue

1 Answer

I think my car is possesed so I call it Christine. Every week something is wrong with it. I dont get one thing done and another happens. Alot of electrical items. I have replaced my alternator two times in six months. My battery also. I burn light bulbs weekly. My window motors burnt up and my heater blower motor burnt up.I have replaced multiple scensors and it just keeps going. Now it is the ps last week it was the brakes. My service engine soon light will come on and if I fill that fuel and put a container of stp fuel injector and carb cleaner run through the tank and start another. The jurking seems to lighten up. Then the light goes off. Then my fuel gauge does not work from replacing the alternator the first time. It sent it backwards. The car also sounds like huvercraft when driving with the rear windows open. IT is deafening. I only owe $700 left on the car. I am glad I only took the year and a halft loan instead of the three. My payments were higher but whew it is getting costly now. I would hate to have another year and a half of christine and a payment.

Not to knock the ability of the mechanics where you have your work done, but with all the electrical problems you're experiencing, it would be money well spent to take the car to an electrical specialist. He can track down shorts and maybe get a lot of your issues fixed. In the future, when service is needed, a ASE qualified mechanic is well worth the money.
Spending a few dollars now could ensure that in a few months you will own a good running car with no car payment. Best of luck.

Valve cover gaskets leaking, how to change valve cover gaskets 1999 rodeo

this is a preaty easy job if you dont have to much to remove it get to it.. i havent change them on a isuzu but they are all about the same make sure you get everything you need first at the auto store, tell them what you are doing and they can get you the proper replacment gaskett.. some folks like the glue gaskett comes from a tube you just squeese in place. some the fabric gaskett whitch is pre-cut and lays in the gaskett cover when you replace it. ether way the cover will need to be scraped clean and the surface on the motor where the gaskett and cover sitts will need the same done. [ razor blade works good] this takes the longest to do but has to be done well to insure a good seal when replacing the cover after all thats why you are doing this it leaks. if you have never done this before i suggest go to type in VALVE COVER GASKETS and watch a few videos this will tell you if its something you want to do yourself .there are alot of ones to watch and dont worry if they are not doing it on the exact kind of car you have they are all the same concept. if you have to remove alot of things and you have a digital camera just take a before picture so when your putting things back together if you need to refure to the pics you know where they went. i dont think youll have this problem with this project it was something i did when i started working on cars to help me remember. i hope you find this info helpfull

What that means is you might have something wrong with your power steering. Could mean low power steering fluid if you haven't check it lately. Bad sensor like what happen to my car or things wrong with your power steering pump, control arms,....just two many things...

Not something you can fix unless you know how to pull a steering column out and have a scan tool to reset the light once the sensor is replaced. The sensor itself is expensive ( over $200 ) The only thing that happens with a bad sensor is that you have full time power...
