SOURCE: 2002 Suburban ABS System Brake Light

I have had this same problem on two difference vehicles both of which are suburbans.

The solution is simple.
Remove the engine cover.
Locate a small ground wire that is bolted to the top rear of the engine block on the passenger side.
Remove the bolt, clean surfaces and replace.

This should solve your problem.

I know it seems too easy but it works.

Passenger seat belt warning stays on even with ignition off

Possible seatbelt latch problem. There are sensors in the latch part of the assembly that inform the restraint module as to what is happening. Sometimes foreign objects get stuck in the latch assemblies ( Children ) and can affect operation. Scanning the airbag module for codes will let you know what part of the restraint system is causing these lights to be on. As long as the airbag light remains on, the airbags will not deploy in the event of an accident

My 2006 Toyota has a dash light that just went on after a fill up. The light is the airbag ligth-it flashes and the manual says to take it directly to the dealer. Any chance this is a fuse?

I just reset my maintenance light and started the car to find a flashing airbag light. Reading the manual, the SRS checks a lot of things so I pulled each seat belt out to full and retracted about 3 times each, then moved front seats full forward and looked from the rear for connectors -- saw them all connected, but jut pressed them together to make sure, moved seats back. Finally, closed all doors, buckled belt, and crossed fingers starting car. Light lit for 6 seconds solid and went off. Hoping it stays that way. Had squib replaced under warranty in year 1. Now fearful of any repair since so $$$$ and you gotta have working airbags and not unforseen inflation. Hopefully light stays off ... hope it works for you.

drivers side airbag might work with trick, clean out from under the seat all the rubbish like big mac boxes and coke cans ,then look under the seat and disconnect the cabe for the sensor and clean the contacts in the connector then plug it back in and it should be ok ,do the same with the fuel pump connections on top of the tank ,the dash lights -? well try the earth connection behind the dash ,you sure this vehicle hasnt been in a flood at sometime

The airbag light in dash staying on in my 2004

Under driver and passenger seats are wires that go to seat belt anchors. These are tensioner wires.Unplug the wires from the plug under the seat.clean and replace.Doing this while the ignition is turned off. Then turn ignition back on.In 90% of the time this is your problem.Constant movement of seat causes this or rear passengers kicking plugs off.Good luck phil.

Airbag Warning Light

Hello, I am having the same problem, But the dealer told me that most often a water bottle goes under the seat and when people pull it out they unplug the airbag, you may want to look at this first. resetting the sensors would be next, I am looking for that next.

Srs airbag light is on on my 99 pontiac grand prix

If the seat belt light comes on intermittently with the belt buckled, it may have a bad switch in the buckle or a loose connection @ the switch. This may also set a diagnostic trouble code in the srs control module & keep the srs airbag light on.

The airbag light came on and stayed on for no reason.

I have the same issue (which comes and goes often).
It is caused by a loose wire connection, used for the drivers side airbag located in the seat.. The connector for mine is located under the front drivers seat. There are a couple of connectors that are connected to a bar under the front of the seat. I don't recall which one is used for the Airbag sensor.

SRS

SRS stand for Supplymentary Restraint System, The purpose of the SRS light on your instrument panel is to alert you of a potential problem with your supplemental restraint system. It should blink seven times when you turn the ignition switch to ON or START and go OFF. A possible fault in the system can lead to any of the following: (a) The light does not come on when you turn the ignition ON. (b) The light stays on after the engine starts. (c) The light comes on while you are driving. Apart from the conventional causes of these faults (faulty airbag system), majority of the light indicator problem has been attributed to ignorance while fixing or repairing mechanical and/or wiring systems within the vehicle. If the SRS indicator light alerts you to a problem, have the supplemental restraint system inspected as soon as possible. If you ignore this indication, the airbags might not inflate when you need them. Likely Causes:
  • Steering wheel modifications
  • Faulty driver/passenger seat sensors for your airbag system (located under the seats)
  • Faulty seat belt mechanism
  • Tampered system components or wiring (e.g battery jumpering)
* Sometimes, a little adjustment of your seat belts and/or seat positions might fix the indicator problem over time (if the sensors are not faulty).
Precautions:
  • Do not modify your steering wheel or any other part of the supplemental restraint system. Modifications could make the system ineffective.
  • Do not tamper with the system's components or wiring. This could cause the airbags to inflate inadvertently, possibly injuring someone very seriously.
  • Tell anyone who works on your vehicle that you have a supplemental restraint system. Failure to follow the procedures and precautions in the official service manual could result in personal injury or damage to the system.
  • If all sensors are ok, the system can be reset using appropriate tools; refer to specially trained technicians.
