For the most part door panel is held in by clips around the outside. In the center area there are a few screws definetly some located around the door handle. Good luck.

SOURCE: i am trying to remove my fuel tank from a 96 chevy suburban and replace the fuel pump

Hello michelle...here are the basic steps for tank removal...

Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Drain the tank.
Raise the rear of your vehicle and support it with jackstands.
Remove the clamp on the filler neck and the vent tube hose.
If equipped, remove the gauge hose which is attached to the frame.
If equipped, remove the fuel tank shield.
While supporting the tank securely with a floor jack (a 2 x 6 helps), remove the support straps and insulators.
Lower the tank until the gauge wiring, electrical connections and all hoses can be removed. The wires and hoses are not long enough to reach the ground, so watch closely.
Remove the tank.
Good luck, please take time to rate me if you find this response helpful and thanks for usein FIXYA.

Can you take the door panel off a 96 suburban when the door is ckosed and wont open

Depends on whether it's front or rear, I think on the front doors the door panel is partially against the dashboard if I remember correctly from my Chevy I used to have.

How to get door panel off?

should be s screw behind the interior handle, in the gripper thing you use to shut the door from the inside, then if there is a reflector ion the inside of the door remove it and the screw behind it, also look at the bottom of the panel there may be screws there too then get a screwdriver, and pry the panel away from the door. it will take a little prying, but it will pop off. dont be scared your not breaking anything, the plastic push pins are coming off
