Question about 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Truck

1 Answer

My check engine light came on on my dodge truck so I took it to get a free computer reading at auto zone & it showed that I have an evap valve leak! A small on as well as a large one, anyone know what this is & how I can fix this? Also a lamp out light is on, I changed the light bulb but now the blinker is blinking real fast & the light is still on! Anyone know what this might be?

I found the leak on a hose attached the evap valve it was cracked & split in two places, replaced the hose & reset the check engine light & it has not turned back on. I think the problem is fixed! Still having problems with the "lamp out" light being on. Everything works, just the blinker goes faster then normal & the "Lamp Out" light just won't go off. Any ideas?

In reference to the evap leak, it very well could be your filler neck. it could have rusted a hole in it. look underneath where you fill your gas and see if there is rust or if you smell gas the small one could be the evap cannister

ok going back to the check engine light first. usually they ask you to
drive at least 150 miles before considering the light off. so reset
your odometer and count off. in reference to your light blinking, i
wouyld assume it is a turn signal, you may have the relay switch
getting ready to go out. go back to autozone and see how much a new turn signal relay is if you want to get it. i would just to have in the event it goes out. dont want to get bused for no turn signals. it may even be a wrong size bulb too. ask them at autozone. and in reference to the lamp out light, it shouldnt be a big deal for, but just for giggles check out all of your lights. headlights, high beams turn signals, daytime running lights reverse lights, 4 ways, dome light, all the lights under the dash, etc, etc, etc.....

My service engine soon light wont go off I took it to auto zone and I got this... blocked purge hoses, faulty canister vent control valve, plugged evap canister, and faulty evap canister purge volume...

its all evap system codes. the evap system handles gas vapors from the tank. it wont affect the driveabilty of your car, just the ability to pass an emissions test.

Got a P0456 engine code. Also leaking about 1/2 cup water overnight under the engine area.

You have to smoke test the evap system & use a scan tool
& follow trouble charts to diagnose

That has to be done by a repair shop--- otherwise you just throwing
parts at it

Check engine light is on took it to auto zone they said it was my egr valve and i replaced it and check engine light still on........ is it any other sensor that, the egr could have trigger

The check engine light will not go out on its own until usually after 20 or so starts. You need to back to Auto zone and have them hook up the analyzer again and clear the codes (they will do this for free). If the problem was your EGR valve, the light will then go out.

Just 2 days a go my honda cr-v 2002 light engine check on the car running well like nothing wrong. plz what is problem

Today's cars have many sensors. These sensors read various engine conditions during the operating stage. Since your vehicle did detect an 'abnormality", I would Take your vehicle to a local auto parts store (e.g. Auto Zone). They will will diagnose the problem by reading the *Check Engine Light" code. This is a free service. Only then will you be able to correct any potentail problem.

Good Luck!

Why did the check engine light all of a sudden come on one day?

one of your sensors is malfunctioning. you can take it to your parst stor they will plug into it to tell you which one. my guess is either lean condition or evap system showing small leak.

I have a 1996 dodge caravan 3.3 v6 check engine light comes on while your driving and dies qieit often what can i do to fix that myself ?

You can purchase a code reader for around $50 on ebay. This will allow you to read the computer code and look that up to see why the check engine light is on. Auto Zone, AAMCO, and other places will read the codes for you for free. I would start there.

Prior to that, check your gas cap to ensure that Habib tightened it properly. That will throw a code. If it was loose, tighten it and the light may go out by itself.

Check engine light on 97 intrepid

Yes, the Computer, on your car detects, all sensors . I, would recommend going to Auto Zone,
and have a Code Reader , recheck your car after
you disconnect negative battery cable, for at least 5 minutes, will wipe out memory and reset problem codes, after you start engine. You will start a new set of any problem codes.

P.S. Auto Zone, no charge for Code Reader, a Dealer will charge at least $ 75.00 for a 5 second read ! Not !!! get it read for free.
