1999 Dodge Ram 1500 conversion van rear brake hammering

I bought a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 conversion van. The brake pedal was very low. I had to beat the rear drums off, because the brake shoes were welded to the bad drums. I iinstaled new shoes drums & spring kit The pedal did not come up.But I devloped a hammering from the rear of the van. The brakes were hammering. I was told it seemed I had a warped rear drum. 3 sets later,The problem persisted. I was advised the front shoes needed to be changed. We first removed the front hoses from the frame clamps, cleaned the rust from the hose and clamp,to assure prper flow through the hoses.. When I cahanged the front, I bought all new! Rotors calipers w/ bracket & pads. The problem is still there. When braking from 55 mph the backend hammmers somthing awful. Is it possible the proportional valve is bad? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Katie..

Are the brake shoes on right, there are two size shoes, One shoe has a longer brake lining then the other. The short brake lining is towards the front of the van and the longer brake lining is towards the rear. The rear brakes also may need to be adjusted, you can do that by going in revers in a empty parking lot and push the brakes as hard as you can to stop the van. Don't give your self a whip lash, just push down gradually and as far to the floor you can about 7 to 10 times. The self adjusters should adjust the brake on both sides, try this first before you take the brakes apart again. It may just need a adjustment and after that check the brake fluid in the master cylinder. Good luck and hope this helps. Keep me posted, be glad to help

Rear taillights on 1999 dodge ram 1500 4 x4 won't come on. how to change switch and where it is located.

If you are referring to the taillights, they run through the headlight switch, and there is a fuse for them under the dashboard, most usually on the kick panel area to the left of the steering wheel.
If you refer to the brake lights, they run through a switch usually hung from the metal braces above the brake pedal, and actuated by the movement of the brake pedal.
There is also a fuse for them on the same fuse box under the dash.
God bless our efforts.

1999 Dodge Ram van 1500 no pick up power

I had a similiar problem on my 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 Conversion Van. It ended up being a partial collapse of the catalytic converter which didn't allow adequate exhaust. The problem only showed itself because I could not get over 55 mph going up a small hill.

1500 Conversion Van AC stays on, van overheats. Pulled the AC clutch fan relay and it fixed the overheating thus far, but really need the AC this time of the year. Please help.

ONE SUGGESTION COULD BE TO SWAP THE RELAY FOR ANOTHER TO SEE IF THIS FIXES THE PROBLEM. IF IT DOESN'T, THEN PERHAPS THE COMPRESSOR CLUTCH IS STUCK IN THE CLOSED POSITION. UNPLUG THE CLUTCH TO SEE IF THE COMPRESSOR STOPS. HOPE THIS HELPS. PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED. THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA AND FOR AN HONEST RATING. GOOD LUCK
