Question about 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution

Ecu. no really, the ecu. im locked out of it. how do i flash it without losing the tune.

So i clearly state the car is running well. But its a turbo problem and i should get rid of it. I say im locked out of thd ecu, but mu turbo has failed and i should just get rid of it. . Your wisdom and vast, much like that of a field mouse they arent wise in case you didnt get the joke

I have a 93 Geo Prizm I can drive at normal speed for 15-20 minutes then I will immediately lose power and when I mash the accelerator I cant go 5 mph but after the car sits for about an hour it will drive...


lots of things, 1.6L or 1.8L engine?
never tuned up.?
bad spark.?

Cold start engine flooding when cold put insids let it warm and it will start


how cold out?, no country or state , told, so can't guess. www is big place.
ever tune it up , this decade? do the 60k mile service points yet?
running old fuel is bad, and even summer fuel just hates cold.

if tuned up,?
try fresh fuel.
try a new ECT , the ECT is the device that tells eCU
its VERY cold outside, (non stated)
then the ECU uses fuel tables and volatility rules to start all cars
in fridge climates. (pure magic)
IN FACT EFI does this in amazing ways..... un like any carb ever made.
what engine, size. I6, V6, or V8?

if engine is good (compression good, times all cyl)
then its weak spark (tune up is 99% factory here)
or bad fueling.
only tests can find the cause, guessing will be hard.
here are some flooding reasons.
1: bad spark parts. or timed wrong.
2: why too high fuel pressure.
3: ECT reading -39F all the time. (its bad)
4: fuel pressure reg, bad, and pressure is 60psi (way too high)
5: injectors leaking, or clogged. (yes, clogged) ask why !
6: in limphome mode.
its a 1995 and may not have obd2 ECU,
so you my have to do the ECU flashing lights test to see if ECU is
happy or unhappy. got stored DTC codes?

It is a clear case of the glow plugs malfunction. It had happened with my neighbor who tried to start his diesel focus one day.
Even jump starting with another battery didn't solve the starting problem.

You could also check the EGR valve for damages and if you want to save a couple of bucks, then go in for used parts for the focus from Good used Focus Stuff

don't think I would be botherd with a thicker head gasket because you are not altering the compression ratio just the amount of air available to the engine
AS for the injectors size, they are more than capable of handling the extra fuel requirement
The problem is getting the fueling parameters reset in the ECM to accomodate the turbo addition to maintain the air/fuel ratio
any speed shop that has a chassis dyno can rechip the ECM to get the parameters right as they do it all the time when tuning speed engines
I woud consider that when moving the turbo from one engine that the ecm be moved along with the turbo as it is already chipped to run the turbo and that neans that you are just changing engines

I really doubt the car is the problem, if it runs poorly at wide open throttle the carb is not the problem, check the fuel pressure 1st, it should be around 5-7 PSI, if that is ok then you may have a problem in the ignition system.

I have a 1996 2.5 liter Dodge dakota that will turn over but not


im assuming youve done basic tune up of plugs, wires, air and fuel filters, oil, distributor if applicable (im guessing not but never owned a dodge)

if it bogs down/stalls at stops only when its hot, try a new egr valve. probably getting stuck open. if not that try heavier oil to see if its losing compression, just one step up. also,

if it runs ok after clearing the computer by disconnecting the battery for a while, probably a dying sensor (most likely o2)

if after clearing computer it still runs bad after warm up, see if it bogs down really bad when letting it warm up from cold without driving (just idle to make sure its not egr system). if it dies or sounds like its close to dead, then its probably something fuel related (clogged/faulty injector, worn fuel pump, bad pump relay)

Engine lacks power


the probes use the mazda motor.... the engine light is caused by a lean fuel mixture...this happens on almost every american motor..its the ecu tuning. this is a way for the a-spec motor to have less horsepower, but they detuned too far. if you replace the ecu with the j-spec one you will not have the light, and gain somewhere around 15 hp im not sure how much or how dramatic the losing power thing is but i do know that the 2.5l motors love LOVE the rpms... so 3,000 rpm is really where the motor starts to run good, other than that im not sure

you can run about 9psi on a stock engine as long as you have a good intercooler and the car is tuned properly. i would suggest getting your ecu upgraded with the K-pro from hondata.
