Question about 1996 Ford F250 Crew Cab

1 Answer

1996 F250 Brakes

Hello, I have a 96 F250 4x4 reg. cab long box C/W 351 windsor, 5 sp. trans. and H/D brakes. I've repaired the brakes once myself and had them repaired by a shop once now, all with a year, and the parking brakes are still locking up and not releasing like they should. When I bought the truck used the back brakes were shot and I replaced everything, drums, shoes hardware, slave cylinders and park brake cables. The shop I took the truck to changed the park brake cables as well saying they were seized, wich I had a hard time believing, if it wasn't for the fact that my son worked there, the cables didn't last a year, and they were Raybest cables!

Seems regular maintenance would be required for your cable issues, and lubing them or limiting your salt water/road salt exposure and/or any underwater/extended wet exposure.
Other than replacing the mechanical section INSIDE the cab, there's nothing else that can be replaced. Besides buying a new truck. ;) Cheers.

I would find the leak as it is probably a vacuum servo that has a broken hose and is affecting the shift system

I have a automatic transmission aod trans ad I've

Do you have a check vechile light or a check eng. light on? If so have the codes checked out. If not, did you try changing the fluid and filter?
The kit is usually pretty cheap, but if you do this remember to buy some transmission sealer/ lube. Add it to the transmission oil. I would add it about half way when filling the oil back up.

03 Ford F250 does not send power to trailer plug

Go to your fuse box in the engine compartment. Check the fuses in the box. Your turn signals and brakes to your trialer are controlled fron fuses in that box not inside the truck!

No brakes lights on 2000 Ford F250 after pulling trailer. Checked all fuses and are OK. Rear brake light above cab is working. Checked both bulbs also. Thanks Bill

Depending on where your truck was made you will either find the fuse under the gauge cluster or under the hood in the power distribution box. The fuse for the trailer lights is separate from the fuse for the truck brake-lights.
