Yes. They should both be 46RE transmissions and the bolt patterns and the plugs should be the same.

I have a 1998 dodge ram 1500 5.9 4x4 will a torque convertor from a 1996 work in my 98

Depends on the engine - transmission combo. The tranny has a housing the torque convertor sits in and is mounted to the engine.

do you have an st, ws, Laramie or sport? 2 wheel or 4 wheel, 6 or 8 cyl engine?

according to amazon and advance auto the replacement torque convertor is the same for 96 and 98 v8's both 5.2 and 5.2 engines so I would say yes. The drive trains are similar and a junk yard can verify via the vin #'s too.

How to remove a stripped out spark plug from a 1999 dodge ram 1500 5.2 liter

Pain in the rear end. but it can be done. Remove the head. and pound it out. Use a helicoil the re thread the hole. If you have to do this, redo the heads, if it has above 170,000 miles , replace the engine. Not worth the head job. But if it were mine. I'd replace it if it had anything above 130,000 miles.

I own a 1998 4x4 dodge ram 1500. The transmission burned up earlier this year. I bought what I thought was a tranny from the same year and model truck, but come to find out, it came ouf of a 1999 dodge ram...

First find out if the transmissions are interchangeable. Check with the dealership or a salvage yard could check through their interchange data base.

99 dodge ram 4x4 w 360 engine trans has only 1st gear and reverse

Are you saying you put in a new but used tranny and it still dosent go out of first gear? Or are you saying you replaced a tranny line? If its the tranny you replace and first is the only gear you may not have adjusted the shifting linkage correctly. Put the truck in park and loosen the linkage on the tranny and slidr the rod on the tranny back and retigten and try that

Lights

This happened on mine too. Your tranny is over heating, and needs to cool down before moving on. Pull over to the side of the road in a safe place, and let it idle in nuetural until it cools down, the light will go out then. In mine, it was because my tranny was going out. Have it checked by a tranny shop asap, I went through 5 tranny's in my 98 2500 because they were weak from the factory.

Cause for overheating can be a number of things, old oil, no circulation through radiator, plugged cooling core, filter plugged, if you just had the oil and filter changed they may have put the wrong filter in, and or flushed some particles loose to plug stuff up. Jiffy Lube did that to mine, that's when mine first went out. They made it right, but what a hassle.
