HAVE A 98 DODGE RAM 2500 ERROR P0172. HAD BAD GAS IN TANK. HAD INJECTORS SONIC CLEANED AND TESTED. PLUGS, CAP, AND ROTOR ALSO REPLACED. TRUCK IS STILL HARD STARTING AND FEELS AND SOUNDS LIKE IT HAS DEAD CYLINDERS. RAN GREAT BEFORE BAD GAS AND ONLY TOOK 65 MILES TO GET TO THIS POINT. ANYONE ELSE THINK IT IS THE 1/1 O2 SENSOR?

Yes that is correct. There is also a coil that fires the spark plug for each cylinder. There are specific tests for each component so you can find out which part is bad.compression could also be an isue not likely if the problem came all the sudden.

Do not dress the spark plug wires to make them look pretty. The spark plug wires on must cross each other at right angles every place they cross. They cannot be run side by side, or the engine will crossfire.

Yes , it is more then likely the Catalytic converter is clogged ! Pull the O2 sensor before the Cat an do a back pressure test ! Testing for plugged clogged restricted exhaust converter An your P0172 means you have a rich condition , does not mean O2 sensor is bad ! Do you have 4.3 L vortex ? Could be bad fuel pressure regulator leaking ! caused your cat to have a melt down an starting to plug ! 4.3L or 5.0L vortex engines . with spider injectors ! chevy vortec p0172 p0175 So you have two problems ! Hope this helps !

2006 Dodge Ram 1500 code p1128 and p1129

The prevalent cause is the fouling of the O2 sensors in the exhaust pipe and the catalytic convertor(s). This usually caused by the fuel not burning correctly in the combustion chamber. And this can be caused by: bad/no spark in combustion chamber due to weak plugs or electrical going plug coil packs; partially plugged fuel injectors and result being too much un aspirated fuel entering the combustion chamber; bad or old fuel, improper fuel octane for engine.

Suggest you fuel up asap with PREMIUM fuel (for 1 tank) and 1 can super concentrated injector cleaner for next 2 tanks. Check air filter clean. Check air intact air analyser sensor wire is clean, pull the plugs and check condition and gap, replace them if fouled or worn.

I have a few error codes for my 2004 dodge ram hemi 1500 4x4. they are po172, po300, and po304.

The p0172 is due to an O2 sensor in the exhaust seeing too much oxygen, the po300 is a missfire present and p0304 is cylinder #4 missfire, check plug and wire to #4 and repair, this should also take care of the p0172, if a cylinder is missing it is just pump air into the exhaust thus causing the code p0172.

03 dodge with code172

"172" is not a valid Diagnostic Test Code (DTC) for any 2003 Dodge.
If you mean "P0172" then that means that the O2 sensor has detected a RICH condition. Your engine is getting too much fuel. This could be caused by MANY different things, but the most likely cause is a bad mass air flow sensor.

I believe you have the numbers right. Replacing the o2 sensor will not cure a misfire. This problem is specific to this cylinder only. A problem with the injector is far less common than ignition components, but very possible. What I would do is get the fuel sys depressurized and lift up on the fuel rail. Remove #5 and #7 injectors. Look at the tops of them to see if they're plugged with nasty stuff from somebody's tank or sugar or other contaminant. If they're clean, swap them and see if the misfire moves to cyl. #5. If it does, you found your bad injector and solved the problem. While you're in there, do a compression test.

99 Dodge Ram 2500 4WD turns over, wont fire

I had a similar problem and believe it or not it was the CAT. An easy way to test for this is to remove the O2 sensor right in front of the CAT. Once you removed it, plug it back in while unscrewed from the exhaust pipe and start up the truck. If it runs fine, the CAT is your problem. This is just a guess and it would be an easy and very cheap($0) test. You did not say if the truck was diesel or gas. Mine is gas that was exhibiting the same problem as yours...good luck!
