The oil pressure sending unit is located behind the oil filter, Threaded into an aluminunm housing. It has wiring that plugs into the sending unit. The oil filter has to be removed and you will need a deep well socket and a 6 inch extension. Change the oil and the sending unit together.
SOURCE: where is the sending unit located?
On most GM V6/V8 engines the oil sending unit is on top of the engine near the firewall possibly under/behind the distributor. Look at the extreme rear of the intake manifold. On some others it is mounted near the oil filter. If you have a light it will just be a single wire. If you have a true gauge it may have a very small hose/line connected to it.

Hi there;
Your looking foer the oil pressure sensor on the 2004 8.1L.
You will find it located directly behind the EGR valve threaded into the block just to the drivers side of the center bolt for the transmission to block connection.
Thanks

Passenger side wheel well. Screwed in the block above the passenger side cv shaft below the power steering pump.
SOURCE: Exactly where is oil pressure sending unit located
if you have the 5.2 V8 its located in the rear of the engine near the dist cap area you can see it if you look in that area , if 4.0 6 cyl its located on the side of the engine block near the oil filter area. It has two wires going to it and screws into the block. It's made mainly of plastic and if broken can allow oil under pressure to spew out and give you thoughts of a blown rear main seal due to the amount of oil all over the underside.
