SOURCE: what would cause car not to rev. up when press on the gas

Most newer model cars have a computer program that will not allow a car to be revved up past a set rpm while in park or neutral to protect the engine from damage. If it runs fine during normal driving operations then it is best to leave it alone.

2001 Chevy impala started the night before morning it started running rough died it would ed start fuel pump ok try starting it Nothing but smell gas what could be wrong?

if your smelling gas then it sounds like an ignition problem or timing, could be something in the distributor, coil, or plugs worn out. if this has the corvette motor in it with the distributor mounted at the front of the motor behind the water pump they are known for distributor problems.

2001 vw cabrio starts then dies immediately. will not stay running and you can smell gas -- seems to be flooding

Often, when a vehicle starts and dies immediately, there is a problem with the security system. It could be a key fob with a bad battery or a system that has lost communication with the rest of the vehicle. Try using a different key to start the vehicle. If this does not work, try scanning the vehicles computer to find any fault codes. Security system issues often have to be repaired by a dealer or a shop with qualified equipment. If you smell fuel when the vehicle starts and then dies, flooding would not be the problem, but rather a lack of fuel. Look for puddles of fuel under the vehicle and make sure there are no loose connections or bad lines.

Need to know what engine you have.

2.0ltr Gas, TDi 1.9ltr Diesel or 1.8t. turbo gas.

Normally the Cabrio comes with a 1.8t.

If so , on this engine it is particularly difficult to diagnose a no start without a scanner hooked up the car. Most common catastrophic failure is the Timing Belt stripping it's teeth and loosing time, apart from the damaged it causes.

Other common problem with that engine flooded with fuel, a common problem if the engine was started and shut off without warming up..

Try throttle all the way open while you crank on it for about 20 seconds at a time. This will clear the gasoline from the cylinders and it may start.

VW CODES

Those codes mean there's an issue with your MAF, Throttle Body Sensor, Fuel System, Engine Misfires

Start with the MAF first as that can cause the other issues to appear (ex. fuel issue because your MAF says it needs more fuel so your engine is getting flooded and stalling.

Then look at the Throttle body and have the replaced if the issue still occurs... Then look at the fuel injectors and fuel delivery system (lines, gas tank, gas pump, etc)

Your engine misfires seem to be the result of any of the previous....
