Question about 2007 Mercedes-Benz ML320 CDI
I replaced correct bulb 3x. I took the socket and bulb which will not work in the brake light hole into the taillight hole of the same left fixture and it works there. I took the working taillight left fixture bulb and socket and put it into the brake light hole and it will not work there. Same bulb and socket. All other light inside and out light and function as designed. The message shows "left brake light no working". WTF! Any ideas other than put it to a dealer for the usual $600 for anything and a day w/o the vehicle? Thanks! tim
My 02 Lesaber did the same with the turn signal and I had to replace the wire connector where the lights came into the front area. the connector was corroded.

It is apparent that the wire between the current sensor that the computer monitors and the left brake light socket is open. Thus the computer knows the brake light is not working because it is not drawing current. If you have a wiring diagram, you can probably find the broken wire or bad connection. This may take some time. To get the left brake light working, you can jumper the left brake light socket to the right brake light socket. Warning, this may cause the computer to register the extra current on the right side as a short circuit and shut both off. If that happens you will have to forgo the left brake light until you get the open circuit corrected.
