When was it last serviced as could be a few things all of which will be rectified by a service or at least diagnosed, i'd guess fuel or ignition problem but get the engine serviced if not done in the last year

Try Seafoam,... purchase at Autozone $10 a can. read instructions. But i would just pour in half a can to half a tank of gas drive it around town for about 20 minutes and see if that wont clean up the gunk in you carb or injectors.
