Check the injector is not blocked , the injector wiring is ok, the HT lead is ok and the plug is not shorting out. Check the distributor cap for cracks around that plug lead or if you have individual coils then replace that coil on the plug.

Those flaps which direct where the air goes are vaccume operated. Check vaccume source.

I do not know if you have the 2.2L; 2.8L or 3.6L Engine; however I have included all below.

For the 1997 Pontiac Grand Am:
I do not know if you have the 2.4L DOHC In-Line 4-Cylinder or the 3.1L V6. However I have included both below. I suspect based on the SE Model you have the 3.1L V6.
