Question about 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer
Anything that causes a check engine light will by default disable the cruise control You need to get it scanned to see what code is in the system. As long as there is a failure, you will not have cruise control. The common issues on these are emission pump and valve failure, engine fan clutch failure or oxygen sensor failure. Any of these can cause issues, so you should get it looked at asap.

Possably a vacuum leak. the check engine light comes on with an emmissions issue, ie vac leak, and it will not allow the cruise to work. once the error is fixed, your cruise should work properly again
