First key on you should hear pump run a couple seconds if you think it's the pump have someone crank it over and another pound on the fuel tank this sometimes makes the pump motor start to run, if it does that may be enough for you to drive to a shop for a new fuel pump.

Easy to diagnose, use a bottle to squirt gas into the intake not very much at all then crank it. Does it start then die immediately, if so its the pump.

I have a 1999 plymouth breeze and replaced water pump and timing belt due to pump locked up and all the teeth gone off belt now. 2.0 SOHC that after setting belt and timing correctly the car wont start...

In general, backfiring indicates the cam, crank and ignition are out of time or out of phase. The timing marks on the crank and cam just line up the timing of the cam and crank. The alignment of the spark with them has to be phased at the right time too. Check the manual for how to set the distributor timing after an engine repair

My 1998 dodge neon wont start cranks but doesn't

You say the relays are good - - are you getting power out of the ASD and fuel pump relays ?

I have a 97 breeze that sometimes wont start. then a day later it will start right up. Also sometimes it sputters while driving and wants to die but then just keeps on going. Could this be a fuel line...

when it don't start check to see if the car has spark. Also listen to see if you can hear the fuel pump in the gas tank working. Fuel pump should make a buzzing noise when you first turn the key on for a few seconds. If the car has spark but you can't hear the fuel pump the pump is probably your problem. If you can hear the pump and have no spark I would check the crank sensor. If you cant hear the fuel pump be sure to check the fuel pump relay under the hood in the fuse box before changing the fuel pump. Good luck

Where is the fuel pump located in a plymouth breeze 1999, how do I know if it needs to be replaced, what are the things that I should see or check for? The problem I see now is: I try starting it, sounds...

As for as the fuel pump...It is inside of the gas tank..Now what you can do too see if it is bad...1. You can use a fuel pressure gauge to see if you have good fuel pressure coming up to the injectors..or 2. will someone is cranking the car you can get a rubber mallot, and hit the bottom of the gas tank, and see if the car cranks..and if it do..you need a fule pump..Now you may have other problems why the car wont crank..Like spark..or a compression issue..And you may want to check all your fuses first...Goodluck

My car jump time

#1 are you sure it jumped time?#2 how do you know this? if in fact it has jumped time you will need to have the timing belt replaced.the average interval for replacement is 60,000-80,000.it is also a good idea to replace the water pump at the same time as it is driven by the timing belt.

Car trys to crank but want

How about the fuel pump relay? or possibly the ASD relay. need to make sure you are getting voltage to the fuel pump when the key is on, the pump will run only for a few seconds when you turn the key to start to prime the system. If you dont hear the pump prime, check the aforementioned relays and associated fuses.

Will not start

Open the air filter container. Spray some starting fluid in and see if it starts. If it starts, it is the fuel filter or fuel pump or both.
