Are you earthing the body of the spark plug? Sorry, but I don\'t know what level of electrics or mechanics your at. If you hold the ht lead which is not advisable the spark will jump to its easiest route. Let me know we can then take it from there

Bad wire or bad wire boot/connector(s). Might have hole(s) or crack(s) in the wire insulation and/or in boot. Also, the boot connector inside the wire may have seperated from the wire. If the wire set is original equipment, I would replace all wires (1995? It is past time most likely anyway). I would also replace the distributor cap and rotor. If plugs have near/over 100k miles, I would replace them all as well.

I think i lost the spark engine just cranks over but does not start

then just check if you have spark at any of the sparkplugs...

1. remove one of the spark plugs,
2. re-connect the cable
3. make contact between sparkplug anode and engine (have rubber gloves - it helps... there is 15kv on the sparkplug...)
4. turn engine and check if there is spark in

you can check that on all/any cylinder

if there is no spark - check:
1. starter fuse
2. ignition fuse
3. coil
4. distributor cap if mechanical...

hope this will help you - do not forget to vote...

I drive a 95 toyota 4 runner.I would like to know the right way to check my sparkplug wires if working p roper.

You can fabricate a tester from a 6 inch long mongol pencil. Sharpen one end and drill a 1/8" hole in the middle. Now remove the sparkplug wire from each sparkplug and insert the pencil onto the sparkplug wire with the dsharpened end connected or touching the ground or any metal part of the engine. Start your engine and you should see sparks jumping on the drilled hole on the pencil which indicates that your spark plug wire is okay.

Cylinder 3 misfire

Check ignition lead - ignition cap and sparkplug. look signs of wear or cuts on the lead. The cap should be tight on the sparkplug. The sparkplug must be free of cracks and not unusually blacked out. Replace if in doubt.

Quick test is to open the hood in the dark. Let someone start the car and look for blue sparks around the lead and sparkplug cap. Be careful - keep away from moving parts.

Its misfiring on the #4 clyder what could cause this

Plug leads are quite prone to damage on these cars particularly where the lead enters the spark plug connector, moisture gets into the connector and corrodes the wire. New leads will solve this problem. There is an alternative to check if a spark is being produced but this is very dangerous if you do not know what you are doing. Remove the sparkplug with lead still attached earth it on the engine and crank the starter. DO NOT TOUCH THE SPARKPLUG WHILST THIS TEST IS DONE. You shoud be able to see the spark jumping the gap in the sparkplug..

1994 buick lesaber car runs till it gets hot then it stalls and wont start till it cools down any ideas whould be helpful thank you

I don't know this car but if I was you I would start with the ignition system. First getting extra spark plug or tests light. When the car is running good, pull the coil or spark plug wire off and test for spark. By puting the sparkplug or tests light in the sparkplug lead. Then when the problem happens tested again to see if you have sparked. also pouring a little fuel down the intake system. If the car starts you have a fuel problem. If it does not start, you may have a bad ignition module are or coil. Good luck.

After repeated stops my 1997 subaru outback will not start

Rule of thumb is Compression , Fuel, Ignition.
Check compression with a compression tester in the spark plug holes.
Make sure fuel is getting in to your motor ( when you remove the plugs check to see if they are wet , too much fuel , or burnt, not enough fuel )
Ignition: With the plugs out, connect a sparkplug to the plug lead earthing the base of the plug, wind the motor over. You should see a spark jump across the gap at the base of the sparkplug.
Once you find which bit isn't working, find out why.
Happy hunting

How to change spark plugs on 2003 camry

Find out what your spark plug gap is, and the size of plugs you require from your owners manuel. Purchase a Spark plug socket for your rachett (also a rachett extension if you dont have one) And a set of Gap Measurers. Pull out the spark plug leads from the base making sure you don't pull on the cable (can damage the lead if you yank on the cable instead of the boot) and then screw out the old sparkplug and check for damage/wear. Set the gap on your new sparkplugs and screw them back in using a torque wrench for the final turn or if you don't have one only hand (do the final turn without using the rattchet just grab the wratchet extension and twist with your hand).

HI I HAVE A 1993 MAZDA PROCEED 2.6 G6 PETROL the motor goes but runs rough jumping like its down on 1 cylinder i have replaced the sparkplugs and checked there is spark to every lead all is good but...

Do you mean when the engine is running rough, you pull the 2nd lead out ther is no change in the roughness? If this s the case, then test the lead it might be faulty.
