How to add power steering fluid to 2008 pontiac g6

If you can't find a power steering fluid reservoir under the hood in the engine compartment your G6 could have Electronic Power Steering . If you look up under the dash below the steering column you will see a electric motor mounted to the steering column !
The power steering system reduces the amount of effort needed to steer the vehicle. The system uses the powertrain control module (PCM), body control module (BCM), power steering control module (PSCM), discrete battery voltage supply circuit, steering shaft torque sensor, steering wheel position sensor, power steering motor, driver information center (DIC), and the serial data circuit to perform the system functions. The PSCM and the power steering motor are serviced as an assembly and are serviced separately from the steering column assembly. The steering shaft torque sensor and the steering wheel position sensor are not serviced separately from each other or from the steering column assembly. The steering column assembly does not include the power steering motor and module assembly.

My 2001 bmw 325 cic started making an awful grinding noise today when moving the steering wheel at all to the left or right. Can also hear the noise under the hood.

It sounds like your car is low on power steering fluid. When the power steering fluid is low, the power steering pump is running dry, which makes a grinding or moaning sound. Check the power steering fluid level and top up if necessary. It should be on the left side of the engine compartment. Your owners manual should have the exact location of the power steering reservoir, and what type of power steering fluid to use.
Good luck

I have a 1995 ford escort and very hard steering, where is the power steering to check fluid or change the pump

The power steering fluid resivoir is located on the right hand fender up front under the hood. The pump is mounted below the altenator on the front side of the engine. The lines go down the right side of engine compartment to the power steering rack located at the bottom center behind the engine. Hope this helps, let me know.

Where is the power steering fluid added? I can't find the cap under the hood.

It should be located on the drive belt end of the engine with a steering wheell picture on the cap or it reads power steering fluid on top.Check and clean all caps it may just be dirty making it unable to read it.On some of those cars they put it down low in the engine compartment depending where they located the pump.

Power steering fluid smell when using defrost??

Do you see any sign of power steering leakage under the hood? The air intake for the ventilation system is right in front of the windshield, and maybe vapors from the engine compartment are mixing in.

The other question is, are you sure it's power steering fluid you're smelling? Coolant/antifreeze has a similar odor. If you think it may be antifreeze, check to see if the carpeting in the front seat area is wet. You may have a heater core leaking, which would allow the coolant into the cabin area.

Power Steering Fluid Leaking!

should only be 2 hoses coming from and to your PS unit 1 is high pressure and the other is a return line. the Fluid all over the engine compartment is from the fan blowing the fluid,

my suggestion clean the area fill the PS unit up and have someone start the vehicle and watch where the fluid is coming from.
