Question about 1993 Geo Metro

1 Answer

It is CONSTANTLY dying at every stop and acceleration is so horrible that I have been almost hit several times in the middle of the road. Once it gets going it is seems to be fine. It will die at EVERY stop, and forwards/backwards, sometimes several times before I shift it fast enough and hit the accelerator fast enough as well. It does seem to sound different like a "stronger muffler" sound with occasional muffler/exhaust popping sound.

I had the fuel filter replaced and it was 3/4 stopped up. But it didn't help it one bit.

It starts up fine when the "starter" doesn't make that shrill misfire sound. I usually turn the ignition off and it starts up fine if the battery isn't dead.

When I say dead battery I have to start it so many times in a day that it drains the battery and I have to charge it to use it again or get home.

I am about to pull my hair out. I am on a fixed income and this really sucks as this car gets about 40 miles to the gallon and is a huge gas saver.

Have you had someone check to see if the fuel pump is working properly? Locate the pump, and if its not inside the tank have someone listen as you turn the key on. If the pump is working let me know and I will look deeper into it.

Odd... Something I would try would be some fuel injection cleaner. Stop by your local gas station and grab a bottle of it. One bottle treats up to so many gallons of gas so just read the instructions. You get what you pay for so the brand and price is up to you...

My battery is constantly dying due to the new lock i recently installed can anyone tell e if this is due to the new lock

To check for electrical leak remove the eart wire from the battery and place a test light in the circuit. If it lights up there is something still on. Boot light etc. IF there is not power flowing have the battery load tested for a faulty cell

My 93 honda accord killed and now it just turns over but wont start

check fuses, specially fuel pump fuse, also have someone turn the key on while you listen for the fuel pump in the tank, if you can't hear the noise then it could be a bad fuel pump, if that's not the problem, check the timing in the vehicle..

Me key battery keeps dying on me in 1 months time is this normal

Where do you keep your keys? If you have them in pocket or purse, something may be pushing one of the buttons constantly, thus, draining the battery.

For a car this old I suggest you check the used auto parts places in your community. This car is 15 years old, and it would be almost impossible to find a new one.
