I am looking to replace my tires on my Sportage LX. I only have 29,000 miles on it but the tires are awful.  I have no idea which ones to look for.

If you have 16 inch rims go with the 235/60/16. The brand you buy is totaly up to you according to how much you want to spend, mileage, and the warranty.

Check for a stone or grit that has got lodged in between the disc and the back plate. Does this squealing stop when you apply the brake? if yes then remove the pads and chamfer the edge of the pads (take the sharp edge off the pads)

2009 sportage, manual ******, between 35 and 40mph, vehicle shudders. Dealer checked tires, said it was a normal reaction for this vehicle. Did not fix problem.

It is hard to believe, and no one would buy the car, IF THEY KNEW ABOUT IT. Ask them for any written information they have on it, like a Technical Service Bulletin . I would not accept their brush-off reply that this is a common problem. Google everything and search the internet for this "common problem". Try to talk to a dealer rep for Kia, go up the line.. Join a Kia owners forum and look for and ask about this issue.
If it turns out they are right, trade it off, and broadcast your disatifsfaction with Kia to the world. Maybe you can convince other prospective buyers to beware.

Tpms light is on have a 2008 kia sportage

TPMS is the tire pressure monitoring system. This is usually because one of your tires is low.
Here is what KIA says about it:
Once the low pressure tire is reinflamed to the recommended pressure and installed on the vehicle, the TPMS malfunction indicator and the low tire pressure telltale will be extinguished. If the low pressure and TPMS malfunction indicators are not extinguished after about 20 minutes of continuos driving, please visit an authorized KIA Dealer.

If you have to bring it to the dealer, they will most likely have to replace one of the tire pressure sensors.

Thanks for asking and good luck!

After 13000 miles my dealership says that all four tires are worn and need replaced or my car will not pass state inspection. How can this be right??

Assuming that you have not been racing with the car or spinning the tires at stop signs, you should do an inspection of the tires yourself. The easy way to check them is with a penny. When you insert the penny into the tread grooves, the rubber should stick up past Abe Lincoln's head. Make sure you check all of the grooves at the wear bars. If the rubber does not reach his head, your dealer is correct, and you need new tires.

If it is true that you only have 13,000 miles on the tires (car) and they are worn out, I would question whether the tires were inflated to the correct pressure or if the alignment was off. When you replace the tires, make sure those things are within specification so it doesn't happen again so quickly.

I hae a 2008 kia sportage i have had to replace

Allignment and camber go hand in hand. Do both front and back at same time on all wheels. Check the tow in and tow out. Fitted Bakkie tires on mine and is working good. Make of tire is a big factor, High profile give soft ride and last longer, low profile give hard ride and do not last that long.

I have a nail in one tire of my sequoia. Do I need to replace all

If the tires are really worn down and look like they are dry rotting..(cracks) it may be a good idea to get a new set. Also note some vehicles do develope a problem with the abs and 4 wd sensors when tires are different in diameter it's a good bet that they may be looking out for your safty.
