Question about 1998 Ford Windstar
WHEN I PUT IT INTO DRIVE AND ACCELERATE IT MOVES BUT ITS LIKE THE BRAKE IS HOLDING IT DOWN. SO IT DOES NOT MOVE FREELY. THE FRONT TYRES WILL BE HOT AND SMOKING
Mr. MOMODU, as you said looks like the brakes master cylinder is faulty. is blocking the front wheels.Renew the brakes Master cylinder and bled the system and would be okay.

The brake bias valve can cause your symptom. Are the outer part of the brake calipers able to slide in and out freely .Jack it up take a wheel off and get someone to push on the brake pedal while you check for correct movement.Lube the slides so it is easier for calipers to return.a chunck of 4x2 wood is useful if you find them too hard to move by hand

1st q? does it only do it at certain speed ie) 80 km/h if so you are either low on transmission fluid or tranny is starting to slip.

SOURCE: we are changing the rear
most falcon rear disc calipers require a special tool that fits into the piston then a 1/2 inch drive ratchet used to spin the piston while pushing in . You should be able to uy this from most auto parts outlets.

i have a 2001 ford taurus and it did the same thing a while back, call the dealer and ask them for the sensor that is behind the brake pedal. It is not the transmission .. cost less that 25 bucks to fix and takes about 20 min

common problem for ford. and in these vans. Same thing to the 98 I had. I am a mechanic and couldn't figure it out. Thought pin fell out but linkage moved. Brought in to tranny shop and they ended up getting used on for $800
