Door ajar light and interior light flash for about 30 seconds after turning car on
1995 Nissan Altima. When the car is either turned on or started, the door ajar light and the interior dome light flashes with a clicking sound (similar to a turn signal) for about 10 seconds. It stops for another 10 seconds and then flashes/clicks again for 10 seconds. This happens 3 or 4 times before it stops and everything is normal and working fine. This happens every time the ignition is turned on or the car is started. It seems as if the vehicle is attempting to notify that something needs replacing or is about to fail.

Well most likecly you have a bad latch, since you do not mention the year, earlier models had a button on the door jam, later models is all incorporated in the door latch, usally if it is the latch, the door don't close with the remove and some times it doesn'h shut properlly.

If you open other doors besides the driver door do the lights work? If so the door ajar switch is defective in the driver door. Also can you turn on the interior lights from the headlight switch control?
Insert key into and remove it from ignition more than six times in 10 seconds. When the hazards lights will flash twice insert key into ignition and turn to ACC position.
Then push any button on key fob once, the hazard lights will flash twice. Then open drivers door to END.
Should be all working again.
I have the same problem, and it has to do with ford' spoor wiring harness, i solved the problem by adding a switch by the fuse box a
nd now i manually turn them off and on, some people will tell you to spray the button by the door with Dw40, but it did not work for me since I have hydraulics installed in my car and is not even!
is the door ajar light on sometimes also when driving? I had a similar problem with the light staying on. I determined that it was the passenger front door latch sticking. I opened the door, then took a screwdriver to push the latch shut on the door jamb. (Make the truck think the door is shut even though it is open). Then lubricate that jamb and pull the handle open to open the door. Keep doing this (closing with screwdriver and opening with handle) until the latch works freely. This took care of my light and door ajar problem.
check the peed sensor wires. is on top of the tranns o may be on the side this sensor is bolted in the transmision w/ 10mm. imprety sure is los for the second q?? check firts the bulb put a new one. check you fuse(s). if the door ajar istays on check the pin is close to the brake pedal o by the door this is hold it by one nut problably fall of and this pin is inside thechasis area against to the chasis. kepin on you ligth
If it has automatic or a domelight that stays on for a while after you shut the door is on a timer relay and that is probably getting bad. As far as the door ajar message there is a switch in the door jam, look and see if you see it. Take wd40 and try to soak the switch try to get it inside the switch. If its incorporated in the door latch spray back inside the door latch real good. Open and close the door several times and see if it works then.
Hey,try this. Get some WD40 or equivalent and spray it inside the door latch. Then open and close the door a few times. Do this on every door. Note which door the you sprayed when the door ajar light turns off because that will be the door latch you will have to replace. What happens is that the door ajar switch sticks.
