SOURCE: my range rover baterk keeps
if the battery goes flat overnight but works fine when driving there are only two possibilities. either the battery is faulty and not holding charge or there is a current drain on the electrical system when standing. have your battery drop tested if ok check that current drain does not exceed 50 miliamps with everything switched off . common causes of drain are boot lamps, glove box lamps, faulty relays, faulty cigarette lighter sockets, and leaky diodes in alternator. to check for these try pulling fuses one at a time to find the faulty circuit. hope this helps

You have what we call a parastic load aka key off drain.Disconnect the negative battery cable from its post and put an ammeter in series with post and cable.
Then start pulling fuses until voltage returns to normal. You can do this with a test light too, however the ammeter is more accurate. I'm not sure what is the amperage draw limit for your vehicle is but as a guide line figure at about a half a volt or 0.50 amps.

Testimonial: "This sound good what should i expect my ammeter reading to start with?"
not entirely sure here but i would look at the fuse box and their might be a fuse marked ETM or something similar which is the fuse for the alarm ,take it out and it should start i know this works on the earlier rover series cars from this age but the range rover iam not sure about

Use key in drivers door and first turn right to lock (confirm doors locked) and then turn key to the left TWICE - u should see and hear rear doors unlock. That should work.
If that doesn't work, which on occasion it does not with my 99 RR hse, then try turning key to the right first (to lock doors) and then turn to the left and HOLD it in the turned position until the rear doors unlock. Now should be able to open doors without setting off the alarm
