SOURCE: Peugeot 106 1.0 litre, temperature warning light

hi, if the collant level is ok and the car isnt over heating then check the heater works in the car and make sure it gives of heat when hot is selected if it dont then the chances are the thermostat has gone and needs replacing.

If on the other hand you have heat then the chances are its just a faulty temp sensot these are cheap to buy and easy to replace.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

SOURCE: peugeot 407, 2.0 litre diesel, 05,loss of power/air surge heard

I am not familiar with the 407 but I would think it is a HDi, if so what you describe is an air leak from a pipe from the pressure side of the turbo, I have had this on a Saab, in that case there was an over pressure switch under the dash and the pipe fell off. Look at the top of the engine, on the inlet side there will be a pipe from the inlet trunking or manifold, it should (maybe with a tee piece in there) go through the bulkhead

Peugeot problemsoverheating

the FSM covers this , under how to test the engine cooling fan.
each car and ENGINE option is different. what engine do you have.
on newer cars the PCM controls the trip points.
it used the engine ECT to see the actual temp and software (firmware)
then enable the fan relay.
you said overheated but what did the scan tool shows for ECT
???????? only that matters, as it is FIRST in the CHAIN.
other engines or older cars have box that does all this.
i cant look yours up because alldata.com is USA spec.cars.
