Question about 1996 Chevrolet S-10 Pickup
The red hazard button broke so need to replace but every time I try the horn goes off the whole time

Simply disconnect your battery negative cable until you are done with the repair. If you need more info after that, let me know.

You most likely need a new clock spring rotating contact under the steering wheel, it is a plastic ribbon with wire in it to connect the horn button and other accessories to the steering wheel while allowing the wheel to turn.

SOURCE: 1996 chevy cavalier horn
replace the horn relay under the glovebox. the bottom panel comes off and you will need to get your head and a lightunder their and have a friend hit the horn so you can find out which one is clicking. once you find it tag your wires and replace it. hope that helped.

You can do that in the ground but it is easier to have a jack handy to get the bolts to align back in the chassis by changing vehicle loading on bar. No special stuff I know of...

Picture is for the carbureted model but has the same patter as my fuel injected model. It's actually pretty easy to see how it goes. If the pully has groves then the grove side of the belt will fit right in it prefectly. If it's smooth then the back side of the belt with run along it. To loosen the belt tensioner do two things. first in the picture below you will see in the top middle you will see the tensioner. The back of the belt runs along it. You will notice that it looks like a solid peice. loosen the top slighty with i believe a 15mm. After that connect to the pully attached to it and pull back to the passenger side until you can slid the belt off the alternator. put back on in reverse order. really really simple once you do it. good luck
