What does mil cmd fail mean?

MIL is your malfunction indicator lamp, (check engine light)

CMD is the computer interface port, or OBDII port indicating a malfunction communicating with your cars computer

check all the fuses, primarily any marked pcm and retest your vehicle
note: your check engine or MIL has to be on in KOEO state (key on engine off), if the bulb is burned out everything will still work and the OBDII test computer will show MIL status ON, and if you don't have a computer to tell you that, you must get that light to light in the koeo state.

Engine code P2440 is in my 2006 Pontiac grand pix. I have replaced the valve, however engine light came back on and again code P2440 is reading. Any suggestions of how to fix this?

1. Using a scanner, turn the Key On Engine Off (KOEO).

2. Check for a baro reading from the AIR pressure sensor of about 100 kPa (or 14.7 PSI)

3. Start the engine, turn on the air pump and the AIR control solenoid valve. This will measure the pressure from the air moving through the system into the exhaust. Expect to see 8-10 kPa higher than the KOEO kPa reading (or 1.16 to 1.45 PSI higher than KOEO PSI reading).

4. With the engine running, turn on the air pump, but shut off the AIR control solenoid valve. (This is basically a dead head test of the air pump). Expect to see 15 to 22 kPa above the KOEO baro reading (or 2.18 to 3.20 PSI above the KOEO PSI reading).

Code po 622 only

Yup, code 622 is for a problem with the generator/alternator field circuit. The field circuit is what the engine computer uses to "turn on" the alternator. Since you have replaced the alternator, the problem could be in the wiring or the engine computer.

2003 grand marquis with misfire code p0316

The first problem you have is assuming that the ignition coil is the only thing that can cause a misfire.

Diagnostic Test Code (DTC) P0316 is a "continuous memory only" code that indicates that there is a fault causing a misfire during the first 1000 revolutions of the crankshaft immediately after engine start-up. This should be accompanied by the regular cylinder misfire monitors (Codes P0301 through P0310) unless the misfire does not continue long enough for the regular misfire monitors to determine which cylinder is misfiring.

In order to determine what is actually causing the problem, you must have access to a scan tool that can perform Key On Engine Off (KOEO) fault testing and Key On Engine Running (KOER) fault testing as well as interfacing with the onboard engine computer to read live data and perform system tests.

Please note that generic OBD code readers DO NOT have the capabilities to do what you need to diagnose this problem. You will most likely get additional DTCs that can help lead you to find the source of the problem when KOEO and KOER tests are run. Generic OBD code readers can access only continuous memory DTCs.

Possibilities/conditions/systems that can cause this code are:
>Camshaft Position Sensor
>Low fuel: less than 1/8 tank
>Stuck open EGR Valve
>Blocked EGR passages
>Ignition system
>Fuel Injectors
>Fuel injector control circuits
>Running out of fuel
>EVAP canister purge valve
>Fuel Pressure
>Evaporative emissions system
>Base engine (mechanical) problems

Check engin light is on reads code p1153 bank 2 sensor 1 change sensor light is back on and reads same code how do i fix it thanks

if you used a diagnostic code retriever tester, the tester will take the light out, if you do not have a code tester, then disconnect the positive battery cable, for about 1 minute, then reconnect it, the light should be out , but you will have to reset your radio clock, hope that this information has helped you.

I have a 2000 Ford Focus. The other day while driving the engine suddenly lost power. when I pulled over and pushed in the clutch it stalled and would not start. I towed it home and replaced spark plus,...

Is this the dual overhead cam Zetec engine or the SPI engine? Get a spark tester, a compression tester, and a can of starter fluid. You can rent the compression tester from some part stores. Spray some starter fluid into the intake and try to start the engine. If it runs or tries to start, then you are probably looking at a fuel issue. If it doesn't try to start, remove a spark plug wire and install the spark tester. If it has spark, then remove the spark plugs and use the compression tester in all four cylinders. If you can't get more than 150 psi on each cylinder, then you are looking at a timing belt issue. Post the results of your test here for more help.

How do I fix code P1464 for a 2001 Linconl LS V6 , says A/C High Demand is out of range ?

This code means that the Heater/A/C controls were not turned off when you performed a Key-On, Engine Off (KOEO) self test. These controls must be in the "OFF" position for your engine controller to perform a self-test. Turn your heater and A/C controls off and scan your computer again, the code will be gone.

My 450 ford moter home turns over but will not start I suspect feul pump

Hello mfsbrown: My name is Roger and I will help. First thing to check is to make sure the fuel filter dirty. Next you should check the fuel pressure. This will require a fuel pressure tester. You did not say if you have a gas or diesel engine. So I will furnish both test pressures. For a V-10 gas engine. (KOEO) Key On Engine Off 35 to 45 psi. (KOER) Key on engine running 28-45 ps. IF your engine is a diesel then the pressures are (koeo) 30 psi. min. (koer) 30-80 psi. If the fuel pump is your problem. Make sure to replace the fuel filter. A dirty fuel filter will cause damage to the fuel pump. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer. This way I know it was helpful. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger
