Engine cranks but no start on my 2001 diamonte

My sister was driving the 2001 diamonte last week and came to a stoplight and noticed that the engine was off when she tried to take off. She pushed the car off to the side of the road and upon aising up the hood she noticed that the serpintine belt and the AC belt both were off and gotten wraped around the crank pully. her BF replaced the belts and tried to start the car but the engine would only crank and not start. I checked for spark at the plugs and good spark was present. I tried spraying starting fluid into the airbox but the engine wouldent even stumble. the fule gage reads half full. No codes appear when using a diagnostic scanning tool either. I am stumped.. any ideas?

Take the timing belt cover off so you can see if the timing belt is damaged

For those belts to jump..that motor probably stopped suddenly...

Maybe the timing belt idler is bad.. could be out of time, slung the belts and now it won't start.

I am hoping that some of you jeep brainiacs out there can help with a suggestion of the problem with my 1992 Jeep Wrangler 4.0 hi-output. Symptoms: backfire from time to time....cuts off when driving, cuts...

i would recommend you connect a fuel pressure gauge to the engine fuel rail port and watch the fuel pressure as you drive it note fuel pressure should be between 31 and 39 psi and stay there while vehicle is being driven. if it drops check the wiring to the pump in many cases the pump connector is burned and losses connnection. also try watching the egr see if its diaphragm keeps surging try disconnecting the vacuum hose to it see it any change is noticed, common problem 4.0 engines of that year EGR's cost about 90 dollars but help stalling and emissions problems greatly.

Car died at the stoplight. Oil light came on.

Probably blowed it. Sorry to say. You can continue to crank it but it probably already seized a bearing. Run a pressure check on the oil.
