Question about Hyundai Motor 2003 Sonata
P0446. This code means that you've got vacuum building up in the fuel tank/evaporative system.
The possible modes of failure are as follows: - The fuel tank pressure sensor is reading low, making the computer think vacuum is present when it is not. - The purge control valve is stuck open, applying engine vacuum at a faster rate than it can vent. - There is a blockage or restriction between the fuel tank and the eventual vent through the charcoal canister and the canister filter, causing vacuum to build up when the ECM attempts to purge fuel vapors.
Not 100% but you may have 8 year/ 80,000 mile warranty on emission. Call or drive to the Hyundai dealer and see if there is warranty before you get your hands dirty. If you have passed the mileage, then check all the parts in the EVAP system i mentioned above. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to help and answer more questions.
