Question about 2001 Isuzu Rodeo
My a/c has been blowing mildly cool air for the last few months, with a proper R-134 charge. Well today after driving for about five hours, I stopped for gas, and when I cranked the engine back up, all I got was hot air (~115 degrees). I hooked up the recharge kit when we got home and put a fresh can on the hose. Low pressure side before I popped the can was 15 pounds with the engine running, a/c on full blast and compressor engaged. I can pressurize the hose from the can, but for some reason it doesn't seem to be going into the system. I've been trying to fill for almost an hour now and still at 15#.
You need to disconnect the wire connector at the high pressure switch, jump the tow wires in the connector with a paper clip, start the car and you should be able to add your refrigerant. Most compressors will not start when too low.

You have a very dangerous condition. Do not start engine. Problem is in fuel injection system. Probably cold start valve stuck wide open and dumping excessive gas in system. Have car TOWED to shop. Bill

COULD BE A FEW DIFFERENT THINGS. HAVE YOU TRIED TO SWAP THE A/C RELAY FOR ANOTHER? IT COULD BE A BAD ACCUMULATOR SWITCH OR A CLOGGED ORIFICE TUBE, OR A DEFECTIVE LOW PRESSURE CUT-OFF SWITCH. TOO MANY TO LIST. TRY THE RELAY AND LET ME KNOW. HOPE THIS HELPS. BEST OF LUCK. THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA AND HONEST RATING IN ADVANCE.

If your dryer is bad it will be frosted up on the bottom. It sounds like to me that is is low on freon you can add some if you have a manifold gauge set. or you can get a recharge kit at Wal-Mart the kit will have instructions with it read them first it will tell you where to hook up the hose
Hope this helps

No they are not compatible. They changed the crank between 95 and 96. I have a 96 that needed an engine swap and the dealer that I bought it from was paying for the engine, he bought a 95 engine and after a month of trying the mechanic said no way no how, the crank between the two is different.
