It is a kia sephia 98, which keeps the check engine light and overdrive on, what's the problem??

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

If the check engine light is on then you should have it scanned. On a scan tool it will read the fault and by then you'll know what to fix.

Hope this helps and thank you for using Fixya!

How do u remove a alternator from a 98 Kia sephia

Loosen the alternator belt, then remove the two bolts that hold the alternator to the engine block, one is on the top right corner of the alternator and the other is at the bottom right on the back.
You will have to remove the engine mount bolt, then you can jack up the engine in order for the alternator to fit between the intake manifold and the firewall.

Check engine light on and O/D OFF light flashing

I was facing a similar problem when I bought my car, I think the "check engine" lit due to a problem with shifting control system which obviously made the "O/D-off" flashes. The best solution in this case is to replace the malfunctioning shifting control system (a closed steel box that works like a computer). This is what I did and since then it's running perfectly.
