SOURCE: x25xe noisey lifter

Sounds like a bad lifter or a bad lobe on a camshaft. Not real familiar with the brand, sometimes you need to pull off the valve cover if it is a pushrod design and check with fingers on rocker arms while engine runs.

But if this is an overhead cam you would need to pull the camshaft and look at cam lobes. Then look for flattened lifter face. Some overhead cams can have lifter discs to adjust gap between lifter and camshaft. Some of the old VW engines used this system. It worked pretty well, but you needed discs on hand to make precise changes.

Prelude 2.2 vti W reg auto automatic tiptronic gearbox slipping

Hi there. Although the Dealer has changed the oil, did they do a 'Stall Test' whilst the gearbox was cold and again when at normal running temperture? If not, that's what they must do firstly. This will identify whether you have a slipping clutch/s. The Honda autobox also includes what is known as accumulators - these control how each clutch is engaged during acceleration. For example, if you are accelerating slighly/smoothly, you want each gear to be engaged gently and smoothly, whereas, when accelerating hard, you need the gear engaged quickly and hard to aviod clutch slippage. Thus, the fact that you are experiencing a hard engagement might mean that an accumulator/s is seized. If that's the case, it will mean that the autobox will need stripping, cleaning and be checked for worn components. Hope this helps, Scottech.

sounds like the synchronizers in the trans are starting to fail ask her it it has become harder to shift between certain gears (i.e. 1st-2nd, 2nd-3rd, 3rd-4th, or 4th-5th) does the clutch slip at all or does the clutch pedal feel different? if its a hydrolic clutch (almost if not all newer cars have hydrolic clutches) the clutch master cylinder may be low it looks like a small brake master cylinder (the clutch master cylinder is generaly round) and usualy is located directly under it, next to it or offset to the right OR left and located under the brake master cylinder the clutch will usualy take DOT 3 brake fluid or hydrolic clutch fluid it will tell you what type it takes right on the cap

if it isn't low on fliud and the clutch isn't slipping or not releasing/ engaging properly, its time for a new or rebuilt trans
