a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

it is located on the passengerside under the altenator closest to the firewall. make sure the vehicle is turned off reach in under the altenator and you should feel the cap.

first be sure that its the engine light and not the "service" light. the service light will usually illuminate if its time for an oil change. if its the service light ur owners manual should tell u how to reset it. if its ur engine light then try disconnecting ur positive battery cable for 1 minute. that should reset ur ecm and get rid of the engine light. if the engine light comes back on then have a diagnostic scan done to determine whats causing it. SOURCE: Pontiac G6 radio change problem
I had the same problem. You have to buy a bunch of extra parts and even then it probably still wont work. I ended up buying an aux input and hooking it up myself. It took 20 min and sounds great.

I had your exact problem. My fix was resoldering the battery contact where it mates on the circuit board of the remote. ( It should be connected at 3 places ) The center and left were not making contact. only the panic button side was. Works like new now. btw while its apart use a pencil eraser to clean the button contacts.

some G6 do not have power streeing pumps
they have ELECTRIC POWER STEERING
all depends on the engine
2.2 4cylinder have electric
3.5V6 can have one or the other
if you have a V6 then you will see the power steering cap through the engine cover on the right side if it has hydralic power steering
