2001 vw jetta changing trans oil

Your 2001 VW Jetta is likely equipped with a "sealed" transmission unit. There is no dipstick that you can use to measure the level of transmission fluid in sealed transmissions. Unfortunately, it's a dealer item that needs to be addressed by a qualified mechanic or at a VW dealer.

Where is the dipstick transmission oil located in a 2.0 jetta

Maybe like my Polo, no dipstick just a filler plug about 1 inch diam. on transmission case on RH side of engine. Remove and check that oil is up to bottom of the plug threads.

Do Not do that!! Anything foreign in the sump is a really bad idea.It way make its way to the oil pickup screen and partially block the flow of oil. This has the potential to damage your engine. At the bottom of the dipstick tube is usually a small bolt that attaches the tube to the side of the engine.I would remove this and see if I can fish it out then.Failing this you will have to drop the oil pan and get it that way.I know this may seem like a trivial thing but the potential is there to do a lot of damage.
If bits of plastic get past the screen and get into your engine any cost to get the stick out will seem very minor. good luck

I have a Ford Harley davideson pickup truck. The oil dipstick has no oil on it.Can the cpm pickup that there's no oil and wont start, also security light flashes.

Hello Corey,
I am not a motor mechanic, but from my limited knowledge....
If you cannot see oil on the end of the oil dipstick then your engine *desperately* needs more oil added.
A 5 litre / 1 gallon bottle of oil costs only a handful of dollars.
An engine that siezes cost hundreds or thousands of dollars.
If your pickup truck still starts, I suggest you take it to the nearest motor mechanic, as soon as possible.

Weird! I have put in too much oil in to my 2001 Jetta TDI. I take off the plug and drain it, but it's still away above the full mark, and now, no oil comes out of the pan! Never seen anything like it....

are you sure your checking the motor oil level with the motor oil dipstick and not the trans dipstick,or your removing the wrong drain plug and not draining the motor oil but another oil like transmission.

My oil light keeps flashing what do i do

Pull the oil dipstick out and check the engine oil level indicated on the dipstick.
Or have your engine oil changed, your oil life may be up! Good luck !

Were do you put tranmisson oil ia a 01 jettA?

It depends on if it is a manual or automatic transmission. For the manual transmission, there is a 17mm allen plug in the side of it. Crawl under car and take the plug out. You can buy a fluid pump for about $20 at an auto parts store and the 17mm allen wrench is about $10 at sears. It is pretty easy on the manual transmission, hardest part for me was finding the 17mm allen wrench.
Automatic transmission?? you cannot put the transmission fluid in by yourself you have to take it either to a V.W. dealer or someone who services these types of transmissions the fluid has to be pumped in if you notice there is no dipstick to check the fluid level that's because they use this probe the stick into your transmission to see how much fluid you have the probe costs about $1500 dollars expensive yes keep in mind it will cost about $20 a quart the reason why I know this is because my brother is having problems with his transmission on his 2001 Jetta if you have any more questions, keep me posted be glad to help.
