Place a plank of wood,at least an inch thick and as wide and long as you can get under tank to spread pressure between tank and a trolley jack, and SLOWLY raise jack so the strap eases onto stud

How to drop gas tank on 2005 CTS Cadillac

Much easier if the tank is empty. Siphon or pump the fuel out of the tank. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Raise the vehicle and install jack stands to ensure the vehicle is not going to drop on you. There are mechanical straps that hold the tank in place. There are also electrical connections for the fuel pump and fuel lines to be disconnected. Place a jack under the tank to support it and then remove the straps holding the tank in place. Lower the tank enough to gain access to the fuel lines and electrical connection. Disconnect the electrical and fuel lines and lower the tank until it clears the vehicle.
Be VERY careful with the fuel that was drained and whatever fuel remains in the tank. It is very dangerous.

Electric fuel pump replacement

Have a vehicle lift?Easiest way.Have to drain tank, disconnect wiring at tank, remove fill timber, disconnect emission tubes on both sides of car by frame rails, disconnect tank straps and lower gas tank out of car. When reinstalling tank, start the studs for the fuel tank straps by only a few threads so you'll be able to start the nuts when putting the straps back on. Replacing the pump with the tank out is easy. Take the 6 bolts that hold the pump to the tank out, remembering where the outlet on the pump points before removing it from tank. The new pump comes with all new wiring. Just install the new pump and tighten the 6 bolts. Use common sense in tightening them. Having a lift is the easiest way, super dirty, dusty job. Wear safety glasses!

How do i get to fuel pump on my 2005 cavaliar

The fuel pump is located in the fuel tank. The 2 straps that hold up the tank, and carefully lower it. The fuel tank is easier to handle ,if you empty the fuel. As you lower the tank, the fuel lines need to come off. After the tank is removed ,remove the ring on top and that holds the fuel pump in place

I NEED TO REPLACE FUEL PUMP ON 1994 GMC P/U

the fuel pump is in the fuel tank
buy the new pump
comes with directions for the fuel lines how to install
disconnect battery
one line is bigger than the other so you dont get lines hooked up backwards and should be 1 or 2 pigtails
undo bolts that hold straps around the tank (4 bolts)
use jack under tank incase there is lots of gas in the tank so u can lower it safely
undo lines and pigtails and lower tank
clean around locking ring really good so u dont get dirt in the tank.
undo locking ring by using punch or flathead screw driver and hammer so u can turn it.
install pump, make sure of orientation of direction of lines to the way it was when it came out, install locking ring and make sure it is turned all the way locked.
lift tank, connect lines using new connectors if supplied, plug in pigtails, install tank and straps.

How do I replace the Fuel Pump?

The fuel pump is located in your fuel tank...you have to drop your fuel tank to replace it...before you do so you will have to sifion [sp] most of the gas out as gas is heavy...when you get out all you can leave the gas cap off and remove the bolts holding the filler neck in place...Then jack up vehicle and place on jack stands....Remove battery ground cable,go under and remove sheild covering fuel tank, while there remove the ground strap attached to the filler neck...Once the cover is off this will expose the 2 tank holding straps.....at this point you will need a jack or holding and lowering devise to support the gas tank..... make sure it is supported well before you loosen the strap bolts!!!! disconnect the EVap hose from canister it runs to tank then remove the strap bolts ...move them aside and lower the tank enough to expose the top where the fuel lines are disconnect them and the electrical connector, ground ...then lower gas tank slowly checking nothing is still hooked to it ...After the tank is down remove it from under vehicle and use a BRASS punch or piece of wood not a regular metal punch to remove the pump retaining ring ...once ring is removed CAREFULLY remove the pump from the tank.....replace pump and new strainer... Then Carefully put the pump back in the tank...if needed replace the ring seal before you place the pump back in...tighten up the retaining ring ....take back to car and put on supporting devise and lift just high enough to reattach all your connectors...then jack up the rest off the way attach holdings straps ,cover, ground ******** filler neck, filler neck bolts, battery cable install gas cap and start hopfully

How to replace fuel pump

Disconnect the filler tube and overflow hoses from the tank. Place a floor jack under the fuel tank. Unbolt the 2 straps holding the tank to the body. Lower the gas tank some, disconnect the 3 fuel lines and electrical connector from the tank. Lower the tank down, remove the lock ring that retains the fuel pump in the tank. It may help with installing the tank, to drain the gas from the tank.

Replacin my fuel pump for chevy lumina APV

Your fuel pump in in the gas tank. Spray some penetrate on the studs or bolts that hold the straps on the tank. Use a screw driver and loosen any clamps that are hold the filler hose and the vent hose to the tank and pry them off care fully. Put a plank the width of the tank between the straps using a floor jack. remove the bolts at one and of the straps and pull them down. Slowly lower the tank and keep it steady. When you have lowered it enough to get your hands between the body and the taken, look for the feed and return lines from the engine on top. You will have to remove the clamps that hold them and remove them before dropping the tank all the way down.

once everything is remove lower it and slide it out from under the car. There should be a large ring that holds the fuel pump cover on the tank. Remember how you took things apart. If you have a digital camera I would suggerst you take a picture becaouse you ahve to reuse the cover on most pumps. Follow the fuel pump directions that you should have been given with the new pump. and the reassembly . make sure you attach all the hoses to the correct place. Good luck.
