1st check that your belt is installed correctly (look at diagram underside of your hood and compare) and is centered on all pulleys/wheels. Then, check your belt tensioner. Make sure the spring inside is good and tight and gives plenty of resistance when you lift it with the male end of your socket wrench. There is a square hole that perfectly matches the male end of your wrench. If that is not OK, replace it. If it is OK, I would would then try a new belt. Install according to the diagram I mentioned earlier, but before actually installing it, try to spin all the wheels in the serpentine system. The wheels are the ones without any gooves in them. They should all spin freely without any resistance at all. (Think of new skateboard wheels). If any of them are sticky or offer any resitance, replace them accordingly. Also, while the belt is off, check your components the belt service. Can you turn (using correct sized wrenches or your hands ) all of them clockwise?.The only one that will be difficult to turn would be the Crankshaft/Balancer (biggest one and usually the most bottom one- might disconnect the negative terminal on your battery first!). Your Air Conditioner, your alternator, Power steering, water pump, etc. should all turn fairly easily. If they dont, the that component might be the squeaker culprit. That component may be on its way out. Good luck.

2002 dodge ram 1500 belt feels loosw is there any way to tighten

most belts are controlled by an automatic tensioner. If yours is check to see if the tensioner is working properly - it should spring back when moved to the loose position.

My 2003 ram truck has a loud squeaking sound when turning the steering wheel and when I go over a bump. What could it be? The truck only has 55,000 miles on it and is in like new condition.

You could have two diffident problems here.
1st the sound when you turn the steering wheel is most likely a loose or worn power steering pump belt. Check to see if underside of belt has any cracks, if so replace. Most likely at 55k miles it is just loose and needs re-tightened.
The squeak when going over a bump could be: a bad shock absorber, a bad or un-lubricated ball joint, or am "A" arm bushing. Check by having someone stand on front bumper and jump, or push up and down to see if that sound is reproduced.
If your truck is a 4x4, one other problem that could cause the sounds in these condition is a bad CVC joint (Axle joint).

Fan belt squeaking

If you check tension. If it is loose ..over 1/2" freeplay it is too loose. Tighten. If it feels tight. Then the belt is likely dried out and needs to be replaced... Check tensioner to be sure nothing is froze up. Like water pump or tensioner pulley. Check other belts as well.

Belt problem after replacing power steering pump and pully 98ram

If the tensioner can be moved by hand the lock down bolt is not doing its job. Try to tighten the bolt with the belt pulled tight and then release. If the belt loosens the bolt is not working as it should. Make sure theres a lock washer (split lock washer) between the bolt head and the post.
